Just as a change of pace from all the admiring ad nausea of Serena’s win perhaps this speculation from Wimbledon might be of interest. In addition to Kvitova and Azarenka two other players i.e. Tamira Paszek and Sabine Lisicki reached the QFs both this year and last year. You will note that this list does not include Serena or Maria. Now we know Petra won last year’s title and I think most will concede considering her two SF appearances that Vika will likely also snag a Wimbledon title in her career. (That is assuming Serena is not going to win the next five titles to surpass Martina’s all time record)

So what about these two who have displayed a remarkable prowess on grass? Do you think either one of them will cop a Wimbledon title? Or are they just good enough on grass to provide a headache to the elite players but are just not good enough to complete a title run?

Never say never ;)

If Tamira improves her serve and finally plays what she is capable of everything is possible for her. That said, nothing is impossible in Tennis.
She is only 21 years old, plenty of time ;)

Of course they can, especially Sabine. If they will... that's another story

For all the hate she gets, Lisicki probably has the second-best grasscourt game of anyone younger than Sharapova. Although she's never going to be able to consistently string together good results on other surfaces, grass allows her big serve alone to smother most opponents. Her groundstrokes are also underrated by many on here- she is capable of getting a pretty HUGE strike on both the forehand and backhand as shown in the Kerber QF at Wimbledon, it's just they're ridiculously prone to breaking down in long rallies, but that shouldn't be too much of a problem on grass. I could definitely see her blasting her way to a Wimbledon title or two, while never making a semifinal at any other Slam (the closest the WTA's ever had to an Ivanisevic).

Hard to see Paszek going all the way at Wimbledon. Tbh, even though grass is by far her most successful surface thus far, I can't help but feel she might prove in the long run to be better on quick hardcourts -- her serve would be a little less vulnerable on them than on grass, and her forehand with it's fairly big backswing benefits from a truer bounce.

No. Neither are consistent enough to win 7 matches, despite both having great grass court games.

Sabine will have fastest WTA tour serve when sisters retire and she at three Wimbledon events in the row beat TOP5 opponent.
So Lisicki will be big contender at every next Wimbledon, but it's hard to say will she ever wins this trophy.

BTW I just notice bizarre coincidence that Sabine in last four seasons defeated RG champions from that year (Sveta-09, W/O-10, Li-11, Maria-12).

Paszek is good on grass, but not that good.

 At people who actually think that Lisucki can win a relevant tournament, not to mention Wimbledon.

Paszek on the other hand, well, her serve just isn't good enough.
You can laugh at me then. The surprising drawback for Lisicki is for as hard as she serves, the Serena and Sharapova types normally seem to overpower her from the QF on, similar to Anna C. when she was at the top of her game. But I do think she will win one, because she is streaky enough to stay hot for 7 matches.

Paszek needs to win more tournaments and stay healthy for me to say yes. I would put Pironkova in front of her.....once she wins her maiden WTA title.

Lisicki could easily win a fluke Wimbledon with age, particularly after Serena retires.
As if winning Wimbledon is ever "easy", unless you're a GOAT having a GOAT-like tournament over 7 matches.
