Very sad news! Jamrichová had a knee injury, likely during the very first point of the match. It looked serious. Does anyone have a video of what happened?

That sucks. Hopefully it's not too bad but knee injuries often are.

A shame as she'll get a CHR this week, likely top 220. At least if she's out for a while that PR will be good enough for slam qualifying and WTA 125s

 

I missed the part where she was wheelchaired out because she couldn't get up the 2nd time, looking at the replay above. Horrible. Also props to the nice lady (she is pushing the wheelchair), who was consoling and hugging Renata while on the floor.

 

It's such a shame Jamrichova was starting to adjust to the Adult Tour, find form, and win matches the last few weeks.

Very likely a surgery + career hiatus recovery. The fact she couldn't get up at the end was very damning. She really shouldn't have continued, made things even worse.

Why would anybody want to watch an explicit video of someone getting seriously injured?

 

My intention was never to be insensitive. I simply wanted to see a video to understand what actually happened on the court. As a fan, I'm naturally curious and concerned about a player I follow. At the time I asked for the clip, I had no idea if it was a serious injury or not, so there was no malice in it. It's a completely normal thing for fans to ask for when something like that happens.

I hope it's not a torn knee ligament because that would mean she would be out for a long time. Wishing her a speedy recovery!

Nope. There have been several where a player retired after getting injured in the warmups.

That video was horrifying... WHY did she think it was a good idea to continue playing??? Why was she even allowed to?

The exact same thing happened to Cristian three years ago in Doha, knee injury, she tried to continue playing after screaming her heart out in pain, managed to stay on court for two more points and eventually had to be carried off the court in a wheelchair after trying to serve. Came back at the USO after surgery for torn ligaments.

Not saying either of these ladies did the wrong thing and I can’t imagine the amount of excruciating pain they must have felt in the moment but if your body tells you to stop, listen to it.

 

I guess you only know how bad it is when you put your full weight on it with force.

1 serve was all it took.

 

The injury happened just out of the camera view....but you could hear the screaming and crying.

And then....after bandaging it up, she went back out to serve.....and collapsed on it immediately....then out came the wheelchair.

 

She is still very young. It’s sad to see such severe injuries especially as she tried to play on. I hope she has a lot of support for recovery. It’s a different field but Jessica Gadirova charted her rehabilitation post ACL injury on instagram and it was really interesting to watch the recovery process and just how tough it was to come back. She had devastating injury at a terrible time during Paris olympics.

 

Horrible. Marcinko injured herself on the same court in R2 while chasing down a wide ball. Had to retire today. I wonder if there’s something wrong with the surface?

 

Poor thing. I wish she'd been discouraged from continuing by the trainer. She's so young to suffer an injury like this.

At least she'll have time over the off-season to begin rehabilitation and recovery from likely surgery

 

We haven't heard officially yet have we as to what she did.
Let's hope it isn't the same as what happened to Cristian a few years ago.
She tried to play on and collapsed like Jammers did yesterday.
