Another defeat for Gabi, hard to believe her decline these past 18 months or so, but apart from that, a very good day at Roehampton. A Pitak, Emilie and especially Suzy were significant underdogs in their respective matches, and a great win for Barnett, and guarantees a Brit in the QF as Dodge says.
Perhaps somebody could arrange a challenge match between Gabi and Naiktha Bains as neither seems able to win a set let alone a match. Gabi's decline is worse because in December 2018 she ranked 162 and has now fallen over 200 places in the rankings. Naiktha has never ranked in the top 200. Gabi has won 2 out of her last 13 matches and Naiktha has won 2 out her last 15. Naiktha is on a losing run of 7 and Gabi 5 in which she has not won a set. Back in April 2018 I thought she should have played the singles in the Fed Cup against Nara instead of Heather. Back then she had a winning run in $25k events. Who is actually coaching these players?

Bains had the upheaval of switching nationalities. She's playing in Australia this week (and losing to a lower ranked player). One of those players coached by their fathers.

The ITF has Taylor coached by Xavier Budo and David Sunyer but they are now working with Paula Badosa and only mention her on their twitter pages.

Sam came close but only Emma is through to face top seed Friedsam in the semis. A win would give her a career high ranking.
