I can almost guarantee the rib injury is completely fake and she simply can't accept defeat because she's used to winning. Shame, I was expecting her to at least have humility in defeat.
I saw all the second set on replay and nothing was showing nor did anyone say anything on TC regarding the injury. But if it is real, Health and Safety of the players should come first, the WTA needs to get players citing injuries to pass a medical or something as there seems to be a fair bit of walkovers happening already in this early season. I was disappointment that Bencic after that premier tittle decided to play a couple of games and quit.

At the same time she would have been "killed" in SM if she had called a MTO down 0-3

Did you put much on It, somebody on the Cam Williams discord put $5000 USD on Iga, ouch.
Lol, if he at least bet on handicap for the 50/50 odd, but if he bet on th 1.2 :lol2:
If someone wants to bet on WTA on Iga's matches, the only normal bet is to bet against her, because the odds are always big and many times the value is perfect. And if lose, it's fine, at least you didnt lose on 1.05.

He was gloating all live commentary as well. 1.2 was dodgy, the tip I got was 3 sets but lucky I went with my own intuition.

No one can know what a player is feeling: as spectators, we can only watch what happens in the match: however, Iga showed no sign whatsoever of any injury during the game, and I can't recall her ever touching her rib area, or stretching, or appearing to be in any discomfort at all. Contrast this to Emma, during the Coco match, where she couldn't leave her side alone, and was stretching and grimacing throughout, but Emma didn't think it even worth mentioning after her defeat... (Oh, and I would like to add that there was some talk of Emma problem perhaps being period-related, but it definitely wasn't: menstrual cramps are caused by contractions of the uterine wall; they are described as being located in the lower abdomen, and are central. Emma's location of discomfort was right over to the side and exactly at waist-level: she was constantly fiddling with the waistband of her skirt as it was right over the area of discomfort: both far too high, and too lateral, to be menstrual in origin.)

We got to give her the benefit of the doubt but if she starts bakerying people like nothing happened in Miami and injured again after another loss then at some point it becomes the boy who cried wolf.

I gotta say the way Iga handles PR isn't giving her a good image. Ball size and types, BJK scheduling, injuries, snitching. I'm starting to wonder are they trying to get her to have the bad girl image?

Elena and Iga are both 'quiet introverted' types, but it's amazing how differently they come across on court: Elena just comes across as a nice, quiet, shy girl (the commentators said in the match that her default expression was an enigmatic smile); Iga comes across as, at best, a cold fish, with no warmth and no interest in other people, and, at worst, an intense obsessive with psychopathic tendencies! Elena looks like the girl-next-door type you'd like to have, well, living next door; Iga looks like the neighbour that would keep you from going out in the yard after dark! :ROFLMAO:

She also talked about equal pay 2 times already. While it's not a bad thing per se, the timing was not good. First time during the YEC, when the stands were empty and ticket prices not expensive, and the second time after or during Doha, when she won the title spending like 3 hours on court (Bye, walkover and bagels).

About the injury, we should indeed believe her if she says so. And it will be claer in a couple of days if it's real or not anyway.

Wow I’m a bit surprised by this result to be honest! 😮 I knew Rybakina could theoretically beat Swiatek as she did so at the Australian Open - but I doubt she could do so consistently and also the slower courts here really shouldn’t favour Rybakina. 😕
Good morning, reading through the posts. Rybakina played as well as i've seen her play, 120mph first serves, 114mph second serves, all well placed, powerful BH and FH cross court shots near the side lines or with depth to the baseline. Yes and even with the slow court, Iga couldn't' get to the ball anyway, Elena made it look like a fast court, lol.

Iga seemed slow, out of sorts at times. Was she beaten into submission early without any answers to Elena's play, or was it because she was injured as she says and not at 100%? People in the stadium watched in silence, stunned it was so one-sided.

Yeah: that silence was one of the weirdest things I've seen at a tennis match: they seemed half stunned and half embarrassed, as though they were watching something they shouldn't, and didn't really want to be there!
