Oh dear. Elise as top seed. They are just lucky Alona has turned up to give this event some much needed star power.

Obviously been seriously hit by the new WTA 500. I had thought Ash would maybe turn up here to defend her title or Petra as a former champion or maybe even Maddie as a former champion in desperate need of wins. But nope, nope and nope. Hopefully it rains every day in Berlin :p

Because it certainly will in Birmingham

Missing a headline name but lots of interesting players for a 250k (Kontaveit, Poots, Ostapenko,Gauff, Jabeur, Kasatkina)

I'm pleased to see Badosa in these UK 250s. Hopefully she'll have a good week at either Nottm or Brum (or both), and not bother with Eastbourne.

Clay is obviously her surface, but I'm interested to see how she gets on during the grass (although that won't come across as a huge shock, ha). She was a circa 130 player the last time she played on grass in 2019, so clearly a different player now under Marti, but she still went 7-3 on grass in 2019, qualified for Wimbledon, and beat (a straight over from Holland) Riske in Mallorca, so she might be able to do something this year.

Almost makes me tempted to apply for tickets.

The entry list has certainly taken a hit this year but still a decent line-up. Maybe they'll get a big name wildcard.

Is Venus on the ALT list? The cold weather aside, I think Venus enjoyed her time in Birmingham a few years ago!

If only there was tennis in the UK last summer when it was hot and sunny all the way through May and June!

I know it's obviously a short season, and everyone wants matches on grass after RG, but these lists are tough. Nottm definitely seems the place to be to nick a few easier points.

Damn. Thought she probably would have to be honest, but was still hoping she would show up considering it won't be for 6 or 7 days until she has to play, would be seeded, and not just a two day gap like Madrid-Rome was.

Still, the last little break she had didn't do her bad in Belgrade, but she'll now be relying on others losing / withdrawing regarding a Wimbledon seeding.
