PURDY, GINNY
United States
Born 15 November 1966 in Indianapolis, Indiana
Height: 5' 10"
Played: Right-handed
Married Paskoff
[Active 1983-1987, 1989]

Won Ginny of Pittsburgh as a lucky loser (1983)
Finsalist at Giinny of Indinapolis (1983)

Purdy has lived her hole life in Indianapolis, Indiana. She burst onto the tour in with a bang in 1983 by almost winning her hometown Virginia Slims event. In a close final she lost to Anne Hobbs 6-4 6-7 6-4. She also won the Pittsburgh Open. Both were indoor events on the Futures tour. At 16 Purdy had made two WTA Tour finals in her first season, while still a junior at high school.

In 1984 she competed in slams for the first time. The WTA lists her highest ranking as #40 on 26 June 1986, but this is clearly an error given her results. The #40 ranking was probably in 1983, high only year in the top 100.

From 1985 to 1989 she was at USC and played collegiate tennis. After graduation in 1989 she no longer competed on tour.

Purdy's style was to camp out at the baseline.

She continues to live in Indianapolis and is now a real estate agent. She has a daughter named Chloe.

Purdy as of 2020

Plays: Right-handed (two-handed backhand)
[Active 2009-present]

A solid player in the middle pack of the top 100 with two lower tier events on her resume. Quick about the court, she lacks weapons and the power to hurt the upper crust of the sport. Another weakness is her serve.

Injured in 2017-she has not returned so far in 2018. Annika is still hoping to recover and retutn to tennis.
