Billie Jean Moffitt comes off court having shocked world #1 Margaret Smith 1-6 6-3 7-5 in the 2nd round of Wimbledon.

This was a huge match for many reasons. It was the first time a top seed had lost so early. Smith felt an enormous pressure to become the first Aussie female to win Wimbledon. Only the "Big W" would cement her status.

Mags was always nervous at Wimbledon, and one can guess this match on Centre Court lasted in her memory.

Margaret Smith Court would win Wimbledon "only" 3 times.

By contrast Billie Jean embraced Wimbledon Centre Court, and all the pressure that went with it.

King won Wimbledon 6 times, and announced her retirement from singles after her last win there in 1975.
