Hi!

I got my Tennis 2k2 yesterday and I must say, it's absolutely amazing!

The only thing that annoys me is the volleying and the fact that you can't use a pro in World Tour Mode (would have been perfect)

Anyway, as you guys probably guess, I use Jelena Dokic in exhibition/tournamen mode.

Something that really frustrates me is how hard it is to win in Hard Mode and I need some tip.

Can anyone give me tips on how to attack, and the weaknesses of certain players and how to win?

Thanks so much

Well, this is what I have learned so far Jelena,

1.Serving: You need to serve at the max speed as often as possible, sometimes you need to stand closer to the alley to serve. Always watchout for the down the line return from the computer, start running to cover it right after your serve. Watch where the computer is standing when you serve, they move to the center line, and to cover the alley ... catch them leaning the wrong way and let them have it.

2.Returning Serve: Stand closer in to recieve serve, then just pummel the return down the line for a winner, move in just incase they float it back so you can swing volley/smash it away. Remember you are already close in to return so moving in farther should be easy. A slice return of serve can be an out-right winner if it is angled correctly.

3.Groundstrokes: Forget about hitting groundstroke winners, its hard to do because the compter runs down everything. Just like in real tennis, realise when you have hurt them, meaning they will be floating the ball back, so come in and slam it. You cannot hit the ball hard all of the time, you do have to slice, it will save you when you are on the run, and get them out of position so you can nail it. Lobbing never seems to work either. Remember that the computer seems to prefer hitting behind you, even if they have and open court. Always hit the ball away from the computer.

4. Volleying: Don't even think about it unless you have them way behind the baseline scrambling, then come in and hit a dropvolley or an angle one.

5. All in all, just watch for everyones patterns ... they all have them.

Thankx Big Lindsay but I think I may need it to be a bit more in depth
I tried everything you said. My service is getting better but I'm still getting broken pretty regularly, they're just always on the attack and I'm the one floating the shots. Is there a way to ace them? Or get them to hit a weak return?

With the return of serve, I can't hit winner off it. I can get them defending but that's about it and trying to pummel it up the line when they serve down the middle only results in an error. How far in should I stand and what buttons would I press to attack?

The groundstrokes is the part that annoys me. Jelena doesn't have the biggest groundstrokes in th game and b4 I can even attempt to attack, they've already put me on the back foot. They slam my slice for winners and it's incredibly tough to do anything.

So, in summary, could you tell me:
1 - What buttons do I press to attack

2 - How can I serve an ace or get a weak return and what buttons do I press

3 - How do I hit a good dropshot and when should I use it?

4 - How do I atack the serve, how far in should I stand, what buttons do I press?

5 - How can I tell which way they are leaning

6 - How should I time my strokes (big windup or just simple taps)?

7 - How do I hit powerful groundstrokes?

8 - How and when should I hit a slice? I want my slice to be effective, what are the best angles?

9 - When you have them defensive, they run everything down, how should I deal with their short slice?

Thanks a lot!

Hey Jelena, I always play with Lindsay and I know that her and Venus hit the hardest balls, so I tell you what, give me a day to play with Dokic and I'll respond again, answering your questions as best I can.

Thanks Lindsay!

I thought Serena and Monica althought Lindsay does smack a damn good ball!

Dokic is really quick but I'm not sure how to utilize what she has

Okay, I played with Dokic and she's great. She hits the ball hard enough and is very fast, U se the tatics I told you earlier, but with pressing foward and to the left or right at the same time when you groundstroke and serve. Another thing you can do is drop down to normal or easy, then try the things I have told you, after you master them, go back up to the harder levels ... worked for me.
Now to answer your question, and you better go and vote in my Red-Clay fantasy tournament that Dokic is in, heres a link.
YOUR QUESTIONS
1 - What buttons do I press to attack?

Button (A) hits hard, I use it 80% of the time, then mixing in button (B) the slice, when needed.

2 - How can I serve an ace or get a weak return and what buttons do I press?

Getting an ace is not easy, but serve at the max with (A) outwide.

3 - How do I hit a good dropshot and when should I use it?

The dropshot is kind of funky, but I wouldn't use it unless they are way behind the baseline, the more you hold back after you hit it, the closer to the net it will be.

4 - How do I atack the serve, how far in should I stand, what buttons do I press?

Stand just inside the baseline and slam it down the line with (A), then come in behind just incase they float it back. You can do the same with the slice (B) on grass, and get winners as well.

5 - How can I tell which way they are leaning?

Not to be a smart???, but just look at them, they actually hop back and forth from left to right.

6 - How should I time my strokes (big windup or just simple taps)?

The computer runs down everything as it is, so a big windup actually gives them more time to get it, but sometimes you can't help the windup because they make you do it. When hit hit your groundies, push foward and to the left at the same time (or foward and to the right), this gives you angle and depth, the depth is what makes them float balls back.

7 - How do I hit powerful groundstrokes?

The faster you get to the ball, the earlier and harder you'll hit it. Anticipate well and learn their patterns.

8 - How and when should I hit a slice? I want my slice to be effective, what are the best angles?

Anytime that you can slice to drag them of the court, its a good time to do it. Use it and thn step in to drill the next one away from them.

9 - When you have them defensive, they run everything down, how should I deal with their short slice?

Slice it back, then backup. plus you HAVE to come in and swing volley/smash away those floaters.

Hello everybody.

I just want to know if I'm doing good with this game. I'm already 6 years on the tour and I'm only rank 96 for men and 102 for women. I hope I can do better though.

What about you guys?
