No. 5 – Lina Padegimaite (UT) def. Mary Jeremiah (OSU) 6-0, 6-1

BU twitter;

from BU website on Joey Scrivano;

"Scrivano knew about Baylor and its tennis facilities prior to taking the job. He got a look at the BU tennis program and facilities during the 2002 season when he brought his then-40th ranked South Alabama team to the Baylor Tennis Center and promptly handed Baylor's 19th-ranked women's team a 7-0 blanking."

:eek:

"Scrivano joined the South Alabama staff in 1999 as a men's and women's assistant coach. He helped guide the women's program to a first-ever NCAA Elite Eight appearance beating No. 8 UCLA and No. 9 Pepperdine along the way."

"During his tenure at South Alabama, Scrivano tutored All-Americans Martina Ondrejkova and Iva Puflerova. Puflerova and Ondrejkova won the 1999 National Claycourt Doubles Championship and he guided them to the 2000 Final Four of the NCAA Doubles Championship. He also coached the combined men's and women's squad that upset Stanford, ranked No. 1 nationally, to win the 2000 World Team Tennis National Championship. "

ooh, he knows how to 'handle' Stanford :bowdown:

"My goal has always been to win a national championship, and it's nice to be at a school that shares that goal."

I've known Malika for nearly 4 years and we've become really close. I have never been so proud of her than this match. Sadly, I heard Ellis' mother was ill and passed away a couple of weeks ago, so I think that has something to do with it. My condolences to Aeriel and her family.

BU probably has the hugest vacuum to fill next season, what with #1~3 all graduating :eek:

So far they recruited only Budai

I thought another US player had a verbal? Can't find now.

mboyle, since you now reside in Texas, shouldn't you choose one 'local' team to support? :lol:

Rachael Reed signed NLI with BU, so all 3 vacancies are filled up I guess.

So next season BU has the following foregin players;

Burgic, Budai

That's it :eek:

How does Texas look next yr? I know the got Breuanna Addison who will be a great addition, but they always seem to be missing a solid #2 and #3 players like the Top 5-10 teams have to really break through. Hopefully they will be getting another one as they lose Krista Damico who has been a great player for Texas.

UT has been doing great recently, no?

2011-12 Roster

NAME HT. CLASS HOMETOWN (LAST SCHOOL)
Elizabeth Begley 5-5 SO Houston, Texas (Hilton Head Island Prep (S.C.))
Krista Damico 5-9 SR Parker, Colo. (Laurel Springs)
Aeriel Ellis 5-3 JR Hayward, Calif. (Hayward)
Juliana Gajic 5-8 SO Toronto, Ontario, Canada (Bridgeway Academy)
Cierra Gaytan-Leach 5-10 SO Corona del Mar, Calif. (Corona del Mar)
Carlene Leyden 5-6 SR Houston, Texas (Stratford)
Alex Martin 5-7 FR Mt. Pleasant, S.C. (SCVCS)
Lina Padegimaite 5-11 FR Kaunas, Lithuania (VOV)
Annat Rabinovich 5-6 FR Houston, Texas (Katy Taylor)
Noel Scott 5-8 FR Los Angeles, Calif. (Laurel Springs)
Julia Wiegand 5-10 SR San Antonio, Texas (Churchill)
Maya Zein-El-Abdin 5-11 SR Missouri City, Texas (Hightower)

I guess Addison could play 2,3?
If other SR players got scholarship..maybe they could recruit one more, dunno..I do think they could get better, was pretty impressed with UT at NCTC this January..dunno why Alex Martin didn't get playing time, she won a set from Ellis there :lol: Gajic didn't play too, for that matter..

And it is 'rumored' that Liz Begley's college wasn't UT (on print for the draw) at the Summer Circuit
