For those of you who still continue to pooh-pooh Kim's #1 ranking, remember this:

Kim is now holding 9 titles
Serena 7
Justine 6
Venus 2

Four weeks from now Serena will have 6, Venus will have 2 at most, Justine might have as many as 8. Kim will have at least 9. Maybe 11, including a Slam. Then she might go higher yet. Kim still has 4 free events to work with before she actually has to defend a title.

You are continually circumventing the cause for the nitpicking as you say. Of her nine victories how many are slams? How many are tierII's or III's. If Kim wins the Open the nitpicking will stop. If she fails the nitpicking will increase. If she continues to lose to Serena, Venus, and Justine it will turn into a roar.

You know better than that. Nobody has ever taken the #1 ranking away from the Williams family since they got it, and their fans will not give up THAT easily. If Kim goes undefeated for the remainder of the year, the nitpicking will ALMOST come to a stop. Except a few will still say Kim may have 14 titles, but only one Slam. Serena has 2 Slams. Note: I don't expect Kim to go undefeated or get to 14 titles. 12 at the most.

She defeated topplayers, like Capriati, Davenport, Serena, Venus, Henin, or since when the masters and antwerp doesn't count. She is also nr.1 in doubles, and it's not her fault that the other 'topplayers' are injured or don't play or cancel.

I know Serena is better, don't know Justine, (one hardcourt win doesn't say it all, I'm not claiming Kim is better, they're worth each other I think)
So give her some credit, she at least showed what an athlete she is by playing so much and winning so much!

That I can agree with it...kudos to Kim for having such a fit body. Only hope she won´t follow Hingis path. Hingis was also though to be extremely fit...

Look dispo- whats your point?? are you trying to say that kim derserves the no.1 spot or that kim is the best tennis player in the world??
As far as most sane people are concerned kim derserves the no.1 ranking- she's played the system the best this year and has been the most consistant player with a alot luck- players injurys- if venus and serena were fit this summer kim wouldn't have won the tournaments she has done becuase look at last year as an example- who defeated her- yep a williams...

Now the question concerning weather she is the best tennis player- well again its quite abovious to sane people that she isn't the best player in the world- i mean when is it the last time she won a tournament with one of the other really top 3 players in draw (henin/venus/serena)??? the grass tournament in holland when henin retired whilst leading lol!!! what was the result of her last meating with venus/serena/justine?? loss/loss/loss! Now you can harp on about how great kims achievements are but your not going to convince any sane person that kim is a better player than venus/serena/henin- just face it- no great stat about her consistancy is going to prove that...only beating these players when it matters will....

Yes. Weren't 22 essentially identical threads made saying Kim was an unworthy #1? And I do believe that a number of people started 3-4 of them each.

Ok. Wait a minute. We seem to be forgetting that Serena just won the Grand Slam. Congratulations to Kim and all but I don't have to nitpick. Serena has accomplished something that we have been lucky to witness as fans of tennis. Even if you can't bring yourself to see her as a human being and celebrate with her you can at least be respectful. Kim maybe number 1 for now but she has not done anything to be mentioned in the same breath as Serena.

Disposable so Kim has 9 titles. 2 MORE THAN Serena. Serena though has 6 SLAMS 6 more than Kim and she spanked her azz while taking her 5th.

You claim that Kim's #1 rank is based on QUALITY well then why are you even mentioning her 9 titles two MORE THAN Serena? One more thing, Serena has won 7 titles and only played in 12 events. Kim has won 9 titles and played in 24. Now you do the math buddy.
