I agree....Serena crushing Martina at the US open last summer! Why? cauz' it is always a pleasure to see little sis win a match, cauz' it is always nice to see a player defeating the #1, cauz' this time it was serena doing it, cauz' the 2nd set of the match was just too perfect... and at my knowledge, nobody has ever done it that way at that moment in a GS!, cauz' even MH recognized the fact that Serena was unbeatable and cauz' with that win i was almost sure to finally watch the final i had been waiting for years!
I will never forget that match!!!!
I go along with Serena's performance in the USO semis. She was brilliant in every phase of the game. She served great, her returns were outstanding, she was nailing her groundstrokes, and putting away the volleys. It's been a while since I saw a player excel in all phases like that. Usually a big weapon or two will be working, but rarely does everything click like that; especially against that calibre of competition.
- Jennifer def. Hingis AUS Open final...Jennifer was flawless
-Serena def. Hingis US Open semis...Serena at her best really, Hingis had no hope
-Serena def. Seles Toronto semis...Not sure how many people saw that match, but both played amazingly well in that match, probably one of the highest quality matches between 2 players I've seen in a really long time.
Definitely Serena vs Monica in Toronto - neither player gave each other anything and it really was only won by a few points, and even then Monica almost completed a full comeback in the 2nd set tiebreaker.
With such high quality both players could be very proud of themselves win or lose.
I go with Serena-Martina at the us open too, Serena`s game and especially serve were so amazing that day. Normally I dislike matches where a player serves ace after ace but in this case I loved it
