It was Jessica's turn to choke three match points this time

 

Pegula put everything in her power to lose this match from 6-5 up and serving in the 3rd set onwards...and she did. Some disastrous error spraying, even in the tiebreak when Noskova was erratic and tight herself.

I knew the match was over when she started laughing at a massive point finisher error while up 3-1 in tiebreak.

 

What an exciting match! Especially 3rd set.

 

Fitting that the final is Noskova vs. Anisimova.

I had Linda beating Amanda in Wimbledon R4, which Amanda has obviously went on to solidify herself at the top at the game after that match. Linda is kind of some polishing on the FH away from also making a jump to a next level.

That 1990s Anke Huber takeback is not it, but her 1st serve accuracy and pace is legitimate.

 

Yeah, just as so many people have said.

Pegula will never be on the same level as her fellow top 10 countrymates.

 

Fun match. Finally Linda broke the ceiling and she advanced to the final of 1000.

Anyone needs a good laugh today, just watch the final game of the third and the tiebreak. DFs, Djokosmashes and the most unclutch tennis you can imagine.

Linda fought hard tho, she was a break down thrice and saved 3 MPs. We'll see if she can trouble Anisimova but I don't think so...

 

That choke from Pegula in the final set was honestly hilarious and laugh-out-loud bad, sort of impossible to believe, but the final set was incredible quality otherwise. Great hitting and ball-striking from both.

Linda is probably gonna be dead for tomorrow's final (that tour final record is just gonna get worse and worse, huh? ) but this was an important win. 5th Top 10 win of 2025, 11th Top 10 win of her career, now into her first 1000 final. Will also be #17 on Monday (#13 if she manages to win the title). Hope she can polish up her game and cut out the embarrassing losses to scrubs next season, and enter the Top 10

This seems to happen to Pegula all the time. It's getting tedious at this point.
She gets to the latter stages of a tournament and by that time she's exhausted and looks like she's fighting for her life.

 

One of those saved MPs broke JPEG a bit, it was such amazingly good point from both that even Pegula's coach smiled. And the point was very long as well. So she might have been struggling physically a bit at the end.

The third set overall was just played at a very high level, there were any number of moments where it seemed like momentum shifted but it swung back again.

 

I always get Tauson and Noskova confused :lol:

 

Linda is never as grumpy as Clara is!

 

Continuing with the curse of 2025: whoever beats Raducanu never wins the tournament. So far Maya Joint only one to beat the curse In Eastbourne.

 

This was a battle of nerves at the end of third set. Pegula choked that last serve game away.

I am happy for Noskova that she won this tight battle. You could see it meant alot to her by her after match reaction.

There's now a rematch of her Wimbledon 4r against Anisimova.

Noskova is a top 20 player and won a first set, no brainer really.

I was so sure it was gonna be pegula in the final. Very weird she lost that by choking. She’s been clutch all week. Damn raducanu could have make the final here. Bummer.

 

Peggy brain farts when it counted the most. Linda staying in the match and manages to get into her first Wta1000 finals.

I'm excited for the BBB finals
