Quite a number of close games today, but Emma puts in a solid performance to get the win!

Pegula is next in R3

A routine win for Emma. I wanted Bucsa to win or at least give a serious challenge to Raducanu but she didn't play anywhere close to well enough.

Let's go! :cheer:

Pegula will be tough, though.
I agree. But it'll be hard to know which version of Pegula will show up. She had a great USO and could continue to carry that form with her, but she can also be a bit inconsistent and has had some random losses this year, so you never know.

I am surprised why Bucsa is not a TF darling. She too knows many languages.
She plays creative tennis and has a fascinating personal story. She lives in an out of the way part of Spain, does not have social media presence, has almost no sponsors and her father is her coach and physio.
She played well against Raducanu, just could not win the most important points.

Yes, the lack of bikini photos weights her down.
However, considering the progressive bent of TF she clearly hits the category of oppressed. Her father came from the poorest country in Europe to Spain to work as a security guard in some remote historic Palace and made his daughter a top 100 professional tennis player.
