Barbora Krejcikova
DOB: Dec. 5, 1995

Barbora is a new star in the making. The 16 year-old, currently a Top 25 junior, just won her first singles pro title, at the 10K Dubrovnik, Croatia, as a qualifier!

She is also the holder of 4 doubles titles, including two this year!

I'm assuming she gets a WC into the second 10k Dubrovnik, and will see if she can follow-up her title!

Interesting to see Barbora wearing what looks like an Apple Watch - on court she always wears that one with the stripes gpband. Guess she has a watch sponsor!
Well on the plus side now Krejcikova can focus on singles for this tournament. Sabalenka looming though again.
When is our singles, doubles, mixed and toilette Queen playing today?

I might officialy have to stan. I watched Badosa yesterday and everyone looks so pedestrian in comparison to Barbs. Hopefully she gets another singles slam soon.

this is going to be Babs' first proper clay swing since 2021, considering that she was injured and then recovering from injury for most of 2022 clay season. I am looking forward to see her back on the clay!
So will Babs focus on singles now that Katka is out?

Hope so, not sure who she would enter madrid and stuttgart with. Would be better to focus on singles and getting back into top 10

This leads to interesting question:
If we could wish whoever we wanted (from active players), who would be interesting once-off doubles partner for Babs?

My first ideas were Bencic or IGA, top players having fun in their days off.

I am not selecting anyone from stable pairings, it doesn't have the fun factor.

Another Czech - no reason to pick one specific player from her generation. The obvious would be playing one with Strycova in her farewell tour. I wouldn't be that surprised if it really happened (as some last minute repairing).

And from youngsters, I'd go with Bejlek. Supporting interesting junior, and continuing the chain of support she received.
Bejlek is from the same area, left-handed, small and fast, and getting a round or two at this level of tournament would be good for her.

Who would be your pick?

Great question! I love the fire and ice combo she has with Katka but if she had to partner with other players I would choose:
Iga - would love to see my two favourites pair up together, especially on clay where they both excell.
Muchova from the Czechs, she has gorgeous game and would be good at the net with Babs
Aryna - she and Babs are good friends, I can see them enjoying doubles together being on the same side for once!
Babs plays BJK Cup this week 🇨🇿🇨🇿🇨🇿

Then her clay season looks like Stuttgart, Madrid, Rome and Roland Garros

No word on when Katka will return so we don't know what her plans in doubles are.

Babs is defending 20 points on clay, we can hear the top 10 calling her name as she is #12 now!

Who is on the team and who are they playing? They put Brenda out there last time I watched the Czechs play.

That's pretty much what Rybakina has been doing over the past year, she was down on entry list with Badosa, Tauson, Raducanu, Kalinina for one off pairings. Half the time she withdraws prior to the first round so don't know what that is all about.

There has been some transient teams this year, I see Stefani has played with Danilina and Gabby. Rosolska doesn't seem to be playing with Routlife at the moment and had a few partners so there could be some free solid doubles players floating about.

I think someone like Badosa would be fun to play with for temporary match play. Perhaps Linda Fruhvirtova she had some random pairings, I recall the one with Kanepi.

I think she only defends 10? Just RG is all I can see on my database unless I'm missing something.

In bold are the players points drops that are ranked above her. Caro and Petra don't have much to defend either (< 100).
