Great fight from both. Loved the intensity in this match. Good defending and attacking, nice variety. Clearly two veterans battling it out with all their tricks.

Third set score is a bit flattered, Aliz茅 had to work very hard to get that result but definitely very deserved win. (y)

LOL. And just yesterday some said Kerber looked to be a title favorite at Wimby. Hehehe....

Such a random H2H stat that Angie has convincingly won all of their meetings on clay of all surfaces, only to struggle so much with Cornet on the faster ones. Cornet is certainly capable on the grass though, today she was fired up, good mix of offense/defense, good returning as usual. Angie was a bit flat and low on energy, way too many casual errors, impatience creeping in and serve clearly a lot weaker than yesterday (probably due to Cornet's strong presence in her service games). Pretty tough conditions out there for both of them, a hot day in Bad Homburg, but Angie could never really get going.

Kerber just hadn't any weapons in this matchup. Deserved win and NID since Cornet has got the turn around from break back to ahead in the first set.

The tour is gonna miss those two.

I didn't watch the first, but Cornet was close to her best and most entertaining in the 2nd and 3rd sets. Not always in terms of execution (dropshots), but she was more aggressive, played some great slices, especially FH slice returns. She was anticipating and reading Kerber's shots so well.

She missed few opportunities early in the 2nd and somehow Keber, who was just okay overall, ran away with the set. Cornet again played better early in the 3rd and didn't waste her chances this time. Kerber started missing a bit more. Both sets were actually closer than the scoreline would suggest.

probably playing and organizing the tournament was too much for Kerber. plus it would have been a meaningless tournament if kerber had won every year.
