Alicia Molik vs Kim Clijsters:

I think Kim should win this one easily (Don't start with me, azza! ;)) unless Alicia miraculously improves times 5 between now and Wednesday 7th in January next year.

Lleyton Hewitt vs Xavier Malisse:

I don't see any way Xavier could majorly hurt Lleyton in this match that Lleyton cannot counter. Lleyton can be relied upon to even the tie with this match.

Australia vs Belgium:

The fate of the tie rests in Alicia Molik's hands. If she can hold her own against Kim, the Aussies will take the tie. If she's not playing confidently, expect Belgium to run down the Aussies to win the tie.

PREDICTION: Belgium could possibly defeat the Aussies.

C'MON AUSSIES!!! :D :D :D

Ahem... Your opinions?

I predict
Kim def Molik
Lleyton def Malisse (malisse won last time so......... and when he plays like he can he is a hell of a lot better than his current rank)
Belgium def aussies in the mixed - I think the tie is Malisse's hands here actually not Moliks, Malisse has the ability to serve big and return big and capitalise on Kim's play and take hold of the match. Molik's play will also impact the result but she unlike Malisse doesn't have the ability to turn the match on its head if she plays well, like Malisse could. Belgium are very underrated in the mixed cause of there match against Spain last year. But what everyone overlooks is that they still won it through good team work and belief in one other and keeping each other, they combine very well and support one another. Belgium did force the USA lastyear to a third set matchtiebreak but the aussies couldn't even get a set off the USA in their mixed match with them

so Belgium 2-1

The Aussies weren't battling for a place in the final like the Belgians were against the US. You'll note the Aussies had to battle just as hard to put away the Czechs. There was absolutely zero intensity after the Aussies were defeated by the US in the final after the singles. You can't compare the matches between the US and Belgium with Australia. The circumstances were very different.

So you are saying Australia didn't care if they lost 3-0 in the final? Australia wanted to win the mixed in front of their home crowd, so it is comparable, to say Lleyton Hewitt walked onto that mixed double court without the 100% intention to try and win the match is silly.
The Czechs were no where near as good as Serena/Blake. The czechs would have probably won if Daja Bedanova had not missed that smash, but she did.

BUt let's not argue about this.

Now it is Mr Hewitt vs the future Mrs Hewitt :D

I saw a reportage about Xavier on Belgian TV and he said he was ready for the next season and that it was going to be his year.
Well, we will see what he'll do against Hewitt

His year does not neccessarily mean becoming No.1 and beating every player he encounters on his way there. It probably means that he plans to play to his full potential.
Don't think he talked about Hopman Cup specifically.

I remember at Cincinatti that Malisse beat Hewitt, he sorta just fell apart. The only other times they met were years ago. I still think Lleyton will win, but the Belgians will win in the end.
