I would imagine that the lower level is to ensure that more Australians actually get in. New Zealand is doing the same with 15K in Wellington and 25K in Tauranga, where the initial field is way stronger. All the New Zealanders are in at least the qualifying draw in Wellington, but all Kiwis in Tauranga are still alternates (except the wild cards, whoever they may be).

?? Maybe none in the top 200 but plenty of others have entered.

Gadecki, Sharma, Cabrera, Rodionova, Bozovic, Aiava, Gibson, Mendez, Tjandramulia, Hule, Parnaby, McPhee, Preston, Osborne, Bolton, Mays, T.Smith, Da Silva Fick, S.Nayar, Mihulka, Aulia, A.Smith all amongst the entrants.

Those who didn't enter, Hon, Fourlis (and probably Birrell and Hunter) have entered WTA Adelaide and are certain for MDWCs/QWCs. Inglis is in United Cup. Perez probably entered Adelaide as she preferences doubles.

Pretty cool that they're organising another grass tournament alongside the random Mildura one. Our girls usually excel at Mildura so this will be good for them.

Smith got thumped by Zlochova. Aulia caused a huge upset in my book by beating Danilina in straight sets.

Not that they were that relevant but Abbie Myers and Gabriella Da Silva Fick have also disappeared from the pro tour. GDSF's case is weird as she was grinding out the European ITF tour in the first half of the year but hasn't played since. Abbie played one European ITF and then we never saw her again Hilarious considering she even got an AOQWC at the start of the year

Another one even more irrelevant is Isabella Bozicevic (aka pink assassin) who also played a few tournaments in Europe and then we never saw her again.

Wonder if these players have simply just called it quits.

That's a shame if so. I still remember watching her and Valentina Ivanov win their first ITF doubles title in Port Pirie.

There's an unconfirmed story in one of the other threads that she was disqualified for assaulting one of the other players.
