I dont think this loss means anything. Serena always plays better in the Slams and raises her level when it really counts.

she has a good chance with a favourable draw ,but with the french its not gonna happen they are going to make it difficult for her to win.Serena can make another improbable run ,its all on her racket.

Freudian slip?

Anyway, I'd say she's got a very good shot at a QF, and a semifinal, final, or title is a decent possibility.

Are you implying that draws are rigged? Because they make the draw randomly in front of a lot of people...

I'd say quarterfinal, semifinal-- great chance.
Runner up is the best I can envision, and that's with a nice draw.

I don't see her losing before the round of 16. SHe's got too much power to lose to a nobody.

I think she's definately going to make it to the quarterfinals. Where she goes from there really depends on how she is playing and who she is playing. Serena has shown that she is still a competitor on clay after being away for so long.

Her chances are still great. I think she is one of the only players who can stand in Justine's way of claiming a third French Open in a row. Remember Hobart? A tough loss to an even lower ranked player and she won the Australian Open title. So, for someone who hasn't played much on the red dirt for the past few years, Serena had a good week. She got some good matches under her belt and I expect her to do well at the French. Justine is still the favorite though. No doubt about that. The girl is wicked on the clay.

About the same as before. Patty is a claycourt specialist, no shame in losing to her. Besides, the match couldn't have been closer. In the AO she won several matches that she just as easily could have lost, here she lost one that she just as easily could have won. That's the way it goes, it's a thin line between winning and losing a close tennis match.

I have to say I am not a Serena fan... and who knows me knows this.

But really. Hasn't Serena already proved like 100 times that she's always a top contender??? I don't care if she loses to Schnyder or to Nancy Loeffler-Caro, for me, she's still the most dangerous player... she always is... and the most lovely thing is that when people more think she's done... then she comes and wins a grand slam and shut lot of people.

seriously she needs to avoid lefties. She already is troubled by them on hard courts, on clay that problem is just exaccerbated.

If she doesn't have to play Patty I think she has a great shot!
