how quick things change. now she is expected to be winning all these things not just having a grea run.

last year when she had the great run did you guys expect kim to still be playing so great this year or did you only see it as a 'run'?

to be honest i'm not sure what i thought, i was cheering for players like davenport, myskina, hantuchova and dementieva so kim was more of an opponent to my players than someone i wanted to do well so i didn't really think ahead with her.

Last year this time, Dokic was ranked higher than Kim and Justine.

Nowadays. Kim/Justine No 1/2, Dokic around 26  :(

I expected her form to continue, in 2001 she did great and ro se to 5, beginning of 2002 made semis of AO and pushed eventual champ cappy to 3, won hamburg beating venus, semis in Rome, and then really sufferred from her injury and could barely practice. Kim is a player who needs a lot of matches and practice time to feel comfortable on court and play well, so the restrictions her shoulder placed on the amount of balls she could hit really affected her confidence level and in turn her form on the court. At the beginning of the american hardcourt season last year kim got permission from her doctor to begin practicing more adn start to play doubles again and her form improved, finals of stanford, QF in san diego pushed venus to 3, won LA doubles with Jelena and made the 4th round at US open and it took mauresmo three sets to beat her and mauresmo had been in awesome form around then. SO to me it wasn't really a 'run' more of a regaining of her confidence and the tennis she is capable of playing.

Kim has always looked on the brink of greatness. Personally I thought it would be Mauresmo to make a huge statement this year. She had the power, variety and was growing in mental strength, unfortunately injury has stopped her.
Justine surely surprised many people.

I expect Kim to start playing really well, coz we know the reason Kim was so low last year is only coz of the injury. But when Kim start beating Mauresmo in indoor and winning titles, we all know Kim will be good this year. But still what kim did this year exceed what I thought she would do, hope she can win a single slam soon to reaasure her place as one of the greats.

I have to say Justine is the most surprising, this time last year, I expect her to be a permanent fixture in top 10 but with no breakthorugh coz of her size, how wrong can I be.

I think she's expected to make the final of most events where Venus and Serena aren't entered, especially on clay.
