I think it deserves an own thread for that. :worship: After so many years trying to unsuccesfully settle in WTA Tour, Arantxa figured it out that it's worthless playing only qualies of big tournaments and bigger ITFs and she decided to play mostly in 25k ITFs. Very smart, get that points and money, girl.
She ends her season with 78 wins and 25 loses. #93 right now in WTA ranking.

Her wins this year:

ITF 25k Santa Margherita Di Pula def. Daria Lopatetska 6-7[2] 6-3 6-1
ITF 25k Santa Margherita Di Pula def. Elizabeth Halbauer 6-2 6-7[6] 6-1
ITF 25k Den Haag def. Valentina Ivakhnenko 6-2 6-2
ITF 25k El Espinar def. Julia Terziyska 6-4 6-1
ITF 25k Cordenons def. Nika Radisic 4-6 6-4 6-1
ITF 25k Marbella def. Marina Bassols Ribera 6-2 6-2
ITF 25k Santa Margherita Di Pula def. Elisabetta Cocciaretto 6-3 6-7[5] 6-4
ITF 25k Seville def. Patricia Maria Tig 6-4 6-4
ITF 25k Petange def. Laura-Ioana Paar 6-3 3-6 6-3
ITF 25k Orlando def. Irina Fetecau 6-3 6-2

Re: Arantxa Rus wins the 10th ITF tournament this year (sets a new record)!

Darija Jurak won 12 doubles titles (50K, 25K & 10K) in her first season in the circuit in 2003. She is still winning these days, winning WTA Bronx this year and finishing in the top 50 once again :worship:

Aww! Love that first hashtag #hardworkpaysoff
This is great. I think Rus is really talented but is such a headcase. Hope winning all these smaller tournaments can give her some rhythm and confidence going into next year and she can do some damage in some bigger tournaments. I know she's getting some hate in that other thread but there are many paths to a successful tennis career, and at the end of the day you still have to beat the player in front of you. Congrats Arantxa!

Rus is going from one extreme to another
Remember her losing strike from a few years back?

Congrats!

She has also stopped the embarrassing double faulting from few years ago. Was it mental?

Congrats!

But I don't understand why women's 25K give 50 points for the winner and men's 25K only 20. :weirdo: No man can reach Slam maindraw just by playing 25K's. And that's how it should be.

wouldnt she get more money from a 1R slam loss than all those wins combined? but yeah for your sanity its better winning itfs than keep losinjg R1s in wta tournaments

The categories are not really equivalent. ATP has more 250s and nearly twice as many higher level challengers (along with a somewhat more balanced schedule that doesn't have like 1/3 of the calendar weeks with no 60k+ challengers).

Player of Rus' caliber would be somewhere in between a 25k and 80k vulture on the men's tour and the points reflect that.

Don't know what she's thinking. Vulturing around this type of level with these bunch of scrubs won't help her in the next season, and her rankings will have plummeted when she can't beat those who are in WTA fields.

ATP tour is much better indeed. I wish WTA had a complete challenger circuit like ATP instead a few WTA125 here and there so only scrubs would play 25k. But points should be rethought also.

Rus (and Badosa on a lesser extent) are extreme examples but WTA/ITF tour is very incomplete and unbalanced unlike ATP so this happens

Look at the sheer number of events that are on the mens tour combined (ITF, Challenger, ATP) vs. that of the women. The men have way more opportunities to gain points with fields spread out than women do.
