Correction: U.S. Open Seedings story

NEW YORK (AP) - In a July 23 story about the U.S. Open tennis tournament, The Associated Press erroneously reported that seedings were set, and listed Andre Agassi as No. 1, followed by Juan Carlos Ferrero, Roger Federer, Carlos Moya, Lleyton Hewitt and Andy Roddick in that order.

The July 23 announcement was limited to the men's entry list, and the numbers reflected player rankings. Seedings will be announced the week before play begins Aug. 25.

The AP really need to start getting their facts straight when reporting on tennis. This isn't the first time they have written an article about tennis and it was littered with errors.

Do they even have any "tennis people" on staff, or do they just assign it to whoever draws the short straw? Some of these mistakes are totally outrageous, and give the opinion that they have no clue whatsoever.

Of course, regular "tennis people" make their share of glaring mistakes, which they should know better. (see also: Andrea Leand)
