Will be very glad to see her in the MD after hearing her story a couple weeks back. Sounds like one helluva determined young woman.

Did a quick scan of her junior results (which we OK, not especially good and certainly not great) and she had wins over Osuigwe, Baptiste, Serrano, and Juvan, so that's something.

She was *40-15 up in that one game she lost as well.

A couple of key moments at the start of each set, Lu had a rare break point in the very first game of the match, but (obviously) didn't convert, and then Lu's first service game of the second set lasted about 15 mins, with Jones eventually breaking, but very comfortable throughout.

A generous FQR opponent when you see some of the others competing today, but I'm very pleased for her - she's had a great few months since the restart and is now in her first ever slam main draw, and surely a lock for a Wimbledon MDWC as well.

Fantastic win for Jones, when you consider she has never played a GS qualies before except for Wimbledon as QWC. She really looked strong today, she can win a round in the main draw I think if she gets a good draw. Why not?

Not only is this an incredible story, I also think it is worth mentioning that Jones's main draw Grand Slam debut will come at a non-Wimbledon slam, and on her own merit! Obviously the fact there was no Wimbledon last year (where hopefully she would have got a wildcard) played a factor, but how many other recent British prospects can say that?
