I read the new Tennis magazine today, and it was great to read about the move to Flushing Meadows. I loved all the colorful photos, the memories of night matches, etc. There is so much energy and excitement at the Open!! It's like no other major, and that's great.

I am SOO PSYCHED!!! I live only 90 miles away from NYC, and it's an easy drive or bus ride for me. I'm definitely going next Thursday night and Friday all day, but may just try and catch the women's final this year (depending on who's playing). :bounce:

I love the Open. I will probably never go *unless I get rich* but I love the energy which surrounds it. The Aus is on too late, Im always revising/exams during the French. Wimby is the only one which comes close to getting me very very exciteted. As soon as the draw comes out, Ill print it, and make my wall chart.

If tennis for you is only about one player, then I hope you don't call yourselves "tennis fans"

Please  if your beloved Justine or Kim were out you wouldnt be saying the same thing? I will probably still watch, but the woman who has been my favorite player for years now who has always done well at the US Open wont be there some I am not as stoked as you are. Is there something wrong with that? (BTW, I will be glued to the mens hoping Andy wins his first major :bounce: )

Personally I can't wait, it should be great. It is a pity that Serena cannot play but every professional player has to cope with injuries at some time or another.

SerendyWillick - My beloved Justine? LMAO! Are you talking out of your ass or what? She's my least fave player ;) I do love Kim, though, but I would still be excited for the Open if Kim wasn't playing. I created this thread about the excitement that is the Open - not about one player.

i love all the grand slams. they are much moe iteresting than other tournaments plus they go for 2 weeks and the quality is usually the best out of all the tournaments (unfortunately us open isn't this year with serena out). but i only get coverage of the slams so it's hard to find the other tournaments interesting.

Yep. I wish Serena was there though so Venus could beat all the top players on her way to the title. I think Venus would have the Wimbledon title if it wasn't for the ab injury. It's kind of sad. Serena loves to win, and she really felt sorry for Venus and thought Venus would probably be the champ right now if it was for the injury. Serena wasn't going to let her have it though. That's what I like about Serena.

Ditto!

Can't wait to see Venus comeback and start to reel off those
Grand Slams again! Go Venus, win the USO and start for your career Grand Slam, and possibly the Golden Slam,
in defending your Olympic Title!

Go Venus!!!
Take no prisoners!!!

I think Venus will win the US Open, then the Australian, Serena will take the French, Venus Wimbledon, and I don't know about the US Open 2004, no gut feeling there yet.
