"Kim beat Serena in the finals of the year end championship. She also beat Venus, if you count it. Venus had to retire mid-match"

At least Tracy admits Venus was injured, and it's not a true win. Pam and Mary Joe continue to say she beat both sisters.

I've been somewhat endeared by Tracy recently. Also, during the Kim-Laura match, she stated emphatically that Venus and Serena raised the bar in women's tennis by several levels...the most ever at one time. That they changed women's tennis more than anyone else. :)

There no doubt that Venus and Serena took womens tennis to another level.

Also Tracy loved V and S when she did Wimby

Tracy :hearts: COME BACK FOR WIMBY NEXT YEAR!

Em, Venus beat Kim in the finals at Stanford last year, the quarterfinals of San Diego last year, the finals in Antwerp this year and the semifinals at Wimbeldon this year, so what's your point? She was just pointing out the truth; Venus was injured and had to retire, but we all know that it goes in the books as a win for Kim and a loss for Venus. It still doesn't change the fact that to date, Venus has a 5-2 record against Kim.

vs1- she didn't say that. she named several players who changed the game- navratilova, evert, seles, hingis, and the williams sisters. she DID NOT place any superlatives such as: MORE or MOST.
Sure she did! I just rewatched the tape. Yes...she named the other players who came and helped change women's tennis. But then she said that Venus and Serena raised it by several levels. That now you need both forehand and backhand to be strong (where Martina would slice her backhands so you had relief there) and you just have to be faster, stronger and tougher. She attributed that to Venus and Serena. It started with Monica :worship: and then venus and serena took it and stepped it way up.

Some think the Willies are furthering women's tennis... Some think they're fukin' it over... remember this?

Sabatini: Williams' making game predictable, boring

Gabriela Sabatini thinks the Williams sisters are making women's tennis tired and predictable.

The 32-year-old Argentine, who retired six years ago, doesn't like the power game of Venus and Serena, who are seeded 1-2 for Wimbledon and will try to meet in yet another Grand Slam final.

"Perhaps they hit the ball too hard for the good of the game," Sabatini told The Mail newspaper on Sunday. "Unless other players are motivated to fight, the game could start to be boring."

Sabatini, who won the 1990 U.S Open and was the Wimbledon runner-up the next year, said the Williams siblings could split the women's game into two tiers: the sisters plus Jennifer Capriati at the top level, and then everyone else below.

"It wouldn't be good for women's tennis," Sabatini said. "Before the Williams girls arrived with their power, it was probably a more enjoyable game to watch. You could see some artistry, not just athleticism. You saw players doing different things, coming to the net, varying the pace of the game.

"Today you don't see too much strategy. It's mostly hard hitting -- and it seems few players other than Jennifer Capriati can give the Williams sisters a match. They hit the ball hard, then harder still. You feel sorry for the girl on the other side of the net."

Oh please, I am sick of this shit about a win not being a real win because someone was injured. If they are so injured they shouldn't be entering the tournament, and if they get injured before they take the court forfeit the match. Stop using injury as an excuse every time a loss occurs.

If you have a look at an of the records I am sure you will not see an asterix against any wins denoting that the winner only won because her opponent was injured.

BTW this is not only directed at the WS. There seems to be a few of the better known players who are total cry babies as soon as they lose.

When did Venus say that she lost to Kim because she was injured?
