After seeing that Pam Shriver was inducted into the Tennis Hall of Fame as a doubles specialist, I wondered if that may not be the path for ANNA as well.

ANNA is on the verge of winning a second doubles slam and if she continues to play with Hingis through their careers, I am sure that more GS doubles titles will come the way of the popular Russian.

How strange will that be for a player to be in the Hall of Fame and never to have won a singles title?

Then i sure hope Natasha Zvereva will get inducted into the Hall of Fame as well! She's won many GS titles with different partners!
[Neiland aka Savchenko/Shriver/G. Fernandez/Hingis]

and finalists with Lindsay Davenport in all four events in 98

Quite. If Anna makes it in before Natasha I will be very annoyed.

That said, I wouldn't be suprised if Anna ends up with as many GS doubles titles as Natasha. She and Martina are a very very good team.

I dun think Anna will make it even if she bag in tonnes of doubles grand slam if her singles is not sound at all. Pam Shriver won a good load of singles title as well. So for Anna, maybe be consstent in the top 10 for the next 5-6 years, winning 2 singles tournaments a year, plus some really really good doubles grand slam result may make her get into it.

There is no comparison between Anna's career thus far and Shriver's. Pam won 22 Slam titles in doubles, and 112 doubles titles altogether! She also had 21 singles titles to her name when she retired.

Anna has a LONG ways to go to be spoken of in the samebreath with Pam. Not to mention that, away from Hingis, even Anna's doubles success is pretty unremarkable. (Pam won 33 doubles titles without Martina.)

Not to insult Anna's fans but... I'll be in the hall of fame before she will ! Please.. hall of fame of ENDORSEMENTS, maybe.

No player has done nearly as much as Anna to make sport more popular. For that alone she deserves Hall of Fame.

Maybe, if she plays 10 more years of grand slam doubles with Martina H!

Why don't they have a category for "services to tennis fashion" anyway? ;) Serena and Anna could be the first intitiates (I'm assuming Venus will get in on her own tennis merits).

kim - SERENA has a U.S. Open Grand Slam singles title and other Tier I wins. She will enter the Hall on her merits, I am quite sure.
ANNA will continue to get doubles titles with and without Hingis and eventually those singles titles as well.

Time will certainly tell.

Like YS said, Sometimes it's the impact you make on the sport not necesarily your winnings. I'm not sure what the qualifications are to get into the hall. Different sports have different guidelines. I'll have to check it out.

TeeRexx, I personally believe Serena will win more major singles titles and get in on her tennis merits as well. Maybe now she would if you count doubles majors (which is partly what the whole Pam debate was about I guess). Will Conchita make it with one slam do you think? But I LOVE Serena's frocks :)

Tony Trabert is in charge of the Nominating Committee for the Hall of Fame. I don't know about dirty but he sure is old.

I do think if Shriver made the Hall on her sorry record then Natasha Zvereva should surely make the Hall, along with several other strictly doubles players. PLUS, Gaby Sabatini also should be in the Hall. She at least won a SINGLES Slam and made the finals of a few more Slams. Besides that, I like her.

Anna is 20, let`s see what she achieves in the next 10 years but if she doesn`t improve and she will be in because she made tennis popular then I wonder if Richard Williams be in too? afterall without him there would not be a Venus and Serena and his comments make that people talk about tennis again so I think he should be in;)

Anna winning titles? I don't think so!

As for Richard Williams, I think it's The Hall of Shame for him.

His insulting comments about Irina Spirlea and Lindsay Davenport were a disgrace!:(
