NO, I haven't heard anytihing like this. But if you stop and think about it, it isn't a terrible idea. Anna the K was always a better doubles player than singles, and Martina might be able to train enough to play doubles, which doesn't involve as much stress on the ankles. It would get Martina back in the game, which her fans would like, and I think Anna's greatest singles success came when she was Martina's doubles partner.

It's just an idea.

I personally would love to see them come back and play together. Anna played WTT doubles with her bad back, and people said she seemed fine. Hingis won her last doubles title with painkillers, before her surgery. I think if Hingis was in shape, that they would be able to do damage on the doubles tour.

I like the idea a lot but i doubt Martina would like to handle those "If you can play doubles then why can't you play singles ? "

I have a feeling Martina is going to make a full comeback at AO 2004 (well i am hoping she does ;) )

While the idea is a "better than nothing" solution, I too doubt that it will happen. But yes, they were a simply awesome doubles team and Anna DID at times play better singles when playing doubles with Hingis. Anna's problems often seem to be in her head, when on court in singles.

Personally, I have a feeling she is just one of those players who is a lot more relaxed in doubles and better able to live up to her potential. She tenses up in singles and makes stupid choices.

But as to luring Martina back, that doesn't appear likely. She is beginning to experience her first successes in show jumping horses now and looks happier than a lark. That sport puts no strain on the heels of your foot, so that's probably where she will be for the foreseeable future.
