Very good performance from Anna to defeat Marlene Weingartner 6-2 6-1, Anna broke every time Marlene served except for the one game in the 2nd set. So well done Anna, possibly the most comfortable win since her comeback! :)

Good luck against Venus now, it's going to be incredibly difficult, but you never know in tennis....

I watched this match live in Antwerp, and it was great to see Anna :D

She had problems with the surface in the beginning..the first 4 games of the match were all breaks.. then Anna started to play more confident, holding her serve mostly very easy..several love-games. She let Marlene run, and used the whole field very well. She hit several winners.

Pretty solid performance of Anna

Let's hope she can surprise Venus :D

Really pleased to hear Per that Anna had a few love games and was hitting a good few winners against Marlene. I'm still jealous that you got to see her though! ;). But hopefully I'll get my chance to see her at Wimbledon! :)

Today well, as always it's disappointing when Anna loses a match, and the 2nd set wasn't the best at all, but Anna played a fantastic first set, she apparently had 8 break points on the Venus serve, not many players do that in one match against Venus, let alone in a set. The signs are so encouraging though that even if it was for a set, Anna is playing some really good stuff, she's bound to have a change of luck surely with her draws and when she gets some good draws, I have no doubt she'll take advantage of it, Acapulco in 2 weeks time, would be the ideal time, to have a helpful draw. :)

Poor Anna, a really bad loss.

But look up, and you'll find that she's still constantly improving, so the next time they play, it'll be Anna's.

Thats okay, Anna. You still have all your fans supporting you, and believing that you can win a title very soon.

Is Anna still playing Dubai or not?

Why not skip Dubai, and wait for Scottsdale? :) So she can play dubs with Martina, and that'll be another title for the Spice Girls.

Good Luck in whatever you choose to do, Anna. We'll be behind your decisions 100%

nice to see that there are still really good fans here :D

I don't like the way some Anna fans just give up hope, and only support her because she's beautiful. I saw Anna-Venus on tv, and the first set was not that bad. Venus made lots and lots of UE's but a lot of them were because of Anna's good game. Anna really ruined some great opportunities. She had breakpoints in three games I think..and a crucial 0-40 on Williams's serve at 5-5.
If she had taken some of those breakpoints the match would have been completely different. The second set was just a mental breakdown.

Anna should get a better draw..she's definitly top 20 material...

Yeah couldn't agree with you more Per, just nice to have decent Anna fans here, that do appreciate her tennis as well. We can do without the others that don't do that. One thing I've learned about Anna is never to give up, I've seen it so many times over the years, that you never know what Anna is going to do, even if she's winning or losing, but no matter if she wins or loses, once a true fan, always a fan. :)

DG, I think she is playing in Dubai next week, but could change, after all we all thought that she was a certainty to play on Doha, but I think she should skip this, because it's basically almost almost the same field as Paris again, and I think she needs a week off. But the week after that, she won't be playing in Scottsdale, so no doubles with Martina, instead she'll be playing the clay tournament in Mexico, she's sort of commited to go there, because the sponsors of that tournament are one of her main sponsors, so that's where she is going in 2 weeks time, but she has a chance of winning that tournament, so in that way a good choice ahead of Scottsdale, although it would have been great to play with Martina again.
