Hendouble - Roddick could easily end the year #1 without winning the Open. If someone like Hewitt wins the Open, then Roddick could still be #1. Hell, if Roddick makes the final and loses to Andre, I think Andy would still be #1 in the Race as he is like 100 points ahead of Andre. The point difference between winner and finalist is 60, right?

bandabou - Why are you quoting "five of the last six?" What Serena did in June 2002 shouldn't matter to who is #1 now...at the end of the year Serena will have won 2 of 4 majors, and Kim may have won 1. Add in Kim's extra titles, and she could be a deserving #1 in that sense.
sorry, but people don´t look at it that way. All they know is that in the past two years, Serena has won the most slams.

he is number 1 in the points race not in the rankings. The points race is like the race to the chase, nothing more nothing less
I agree with what this person said. No-one but some number crunching officials at the ATP cares about the race one jot.

Sjengster was talking about the entry system ranking, not the race. The race is a piece of shit that doesn't matter until TMS Paris. Roddick will have to clean up the fall indoor season to get to #1 in the entry system if he doesn't win the US Open.
