After she lost in Makarska 7-5 in 3rd set against on the end finalist of the tournament Ana again had bad luck. In QR1 of WTA Warsaw she played against 3rd seed Kerber and lost 63 06 64. She actually won 6 points more and had 5 BPs more than Kerber.
She keeps on losing to everybody these days. In R1 of Grado 25k, where she's defending SF, she lost to a qualifier (Pliskova, #579) in straight sets. Hard to believe that less than a year ago she was at a career-high ranking of 191. Now she'll drop outside of top300:sad:
It's lucky for her, but her form is also on the rise in the past month or so. She didn't have much of a season this year, with just a few solid results on challengers and a 6 match losing streak between April and June. BTW, she played Ozga once before, 2 years ago in Spain on hard and won easily, but this time it'll be on clay.
In R2, Ana beat Ozga easily, 64 61. With this, she'll move back into the top 300, at ~280-285. Ana is defending only 14 points through mid-November, so she has a good chance to make a big move up the rankings.
Petra was just awarded by Tennis Europe as best European tennis player under age 14.
I guess we don't have to be afraid for the future of Croatian tennis.:)
It is time for Antonia to get her cheering thread as well.
This week she is playing her second 15K ITF and only third pro tournament of career in Monastir, Tunisia as a wild card.
Rd1: (WC) Antonia Ruzic def. (8) Alice Gillan 7-5 4-6 6-3
Rd2: (WC) Antonia Ruzic def. Aurora Zantedeschi 6-3 6-3...
Adrijana Lekaj is playing at a G2 in Peru this week and is through to the QF:
Inka Bowl 2012
R1: Adrijana LEKAJ (CRO) (8) BYE
R2: Adrijana LEKAJ (CRO) (8) defeated Andressa Cristina SOUZA (BRA) 7-5 6-3
R3: Adrijana LEKAJ (CRO) (8) defeated Ana Victoria GOBBI MONLLAU (ARG) 6-0 6-0
Yeah I opened this thread so I don't spam other ones with my bitching.
I expected more from our girls this week! :(
They all flopped except Mrdeža.
It's especially :o bc they all could have won too, draws were not that bad.
I hope they will have more luck in next tournaments, this week...
