ZURICH, Switzerland (AP) -- Fearful after the Sept. 11 attacks, American tennis player Kimberly Po is listed as Swiss at this week's WTA tournament.

Po, who has a Swiss husband, requested the change for the Swisscom Challenge, the WTA said.

The change is temporary and she has not switched nationalities. Po was born in Los Angeles and lives in Rolling Hills, Calif.

The WTA said it was allowing players who can legally change nationalities to temporarily switch their country name for the draw.

Po theoretically could change citizenship. Her husband, Oliver Messerli, has a dual nationality -- Swiss and South African.

``I feel a lot more secure after everything that happened on Sept. 11,'' said Po, who turns 30 on Saturday.

Po is playing doubles in Zurich with French veteran Nathalie Tauziat.

In recent weeks, several players bypassed European tournaments for safety reasons.

``Certainly if I had been traveling in the weeks that followed (the attacks) I might have thought twice about it,'' said Jennifer Capriati, who assumed the No. 1 ranking this week. ``But you need to move on and whatever happens, happens.''

Po has qualified with Tauziat for the doubles tournament at the year-end championships in Munich, Germany. She has not said whether she will continue to be listed as a Swiss.

I really don't see the point.....if Po was a target for anything, saying she is swiss for a week isn't going to change things....sorry, silly and a overreaction.

I don't think it will matter much either, but if she feels safer...
