Agassi: Pregnant Steffi would have loved to play mixed here
By Matthew Cronin

Andre Agassi said that his wife, the now-retired Steffi Graf, would have loved to play mixed doubles with him at Roland-Garros this year but pregnancy got in the way of the six-time French champion's desire to get out on court again.

"She definitely would love to have played, no question about it. But whether she would have been able to pull it off, stay physically healthy... you know pregnancy aside, we don't know," Agassi said. "Part of her frustration was the sort of perception that anything else would have been the case because she really would want to."

After Agassi won the Australian Open in January, he vowed to get his wife back on court at Roland-Garros. But Graf's pregnancy with the couple's second child was too big of a roadblock to overcome. The two had been practicing together after Australia.

"It's amazing the lengths she will go to not to play," joked Agassi, who added, "She hasn't played in three years and it would have been a difficult challenge for her, since she struggled with injuries towards the end of her career, to all of a sudden pick up a tennis racket and put her body through it, assuming she could find the time. It would have been difficult, which she wanted to do. Now it's literally an impossibility. Maybe one day it really will happen."

I bet she still would have beaten Alexandra Stevenson in the first round in singles!
