Abby was born on January 22, 2001 in Cleveland, but she lives in Atlanta now. She started playing tennis at 3 only, and played her very first tournaments at 6. Her listed coaches are her dad Evgeniy, and Rick Shy. :)

She won U12 Orange Bowl in 2012, beating some familiar names on her way to the title - namely: Leonie Kung in R2 (2 & 4), Irina Cantos Siemers in R4 (6-1 3-0 ret.), Jovana Vukovic in QF (7-5 6-1), Nada Dimovska in SF (4 & 3), and Dayana Yastremska (who is 8 months older, and now is in the junior Top 50) 7-5 7-5 in the final. :yeah:
She had made the SFs of U12 Eddie Herr two weeks before - beating Vitalia Stamat 0 & 1 in R1, Nada Dimovska 3 & 4 in R2, Mihaela Lorena Marculescu 4 & 2 in R3, Dayana Yastremska 2 & 4 in QF, before falling to Ellie Douglas in SF, 1 & 3 (she double-breadsticked at the U14 USTA National Winter Championships a month later though :p).

In 2013, she made the SFs at U14 Orange Bowl (with straight-set wins over Rosnowska in R1, Coppoc in R2, T. Pieri in R4), lost a big fight against Claire Liu in SF, 6-4 6-7(1) 3-6.

Last year, she played her first G18s, and made 2 G18 finals: at G5 ITF Waco (she lost to Kylie McKenzie in the final, 2 & 0 ) and at G4 Atlanta ITF (she lost to Kennedy Shaffer in the final, 2-6 6-7(8)).
She got wins over Raquel Pedraza and Alexandra Sanford, played 2 crazy matches against Kayla Day (won the first one, 7-5 6-7(8) 6-4 :eek:h:; lost the 2nd one, 7-5 3-6 6-7(7) :tears:), took a set off Katherine Sebov, pushed Anna Kalinskaya to 5-5 in a set, etc... ;)
She had a rather disappointing tournament at U14 Les Petits As at the beginning of the year though - beat Simona Waltert 2-6 7-6(5) 6-2 in R1, and Daria Solovyeva 7-5 7-5 in R2, but got stopped by Ulyana Shirokova in R3, 4 & 2... :-/
She only played the U18 OB last year, but got thrashed by Pospelova in R1, 0 & 1. :tears:

This year, she's played only G18s and pro tournaments - except for U16 USTA National Championships in August, that she won (her only singles title this year), beating (15)Whitney Osuigwe in a 3rd set TB in the final.
Her winning the U16 National Champs awarded her a MDWC at Jr USO, that was her big Slam debuts. :awww: Sadly she lost to Viktoria Kuzmova (who made the SFs of Wimbledon this year) in R1, 2 & 3.

She's got a few good wins this year - a 1 & 3 win over Maria Paula Torres in R1 of a Brazilian GA; a R1 3 & 2 win over Ali Collins, followed by a R2 7-6(0) 6-4 win over Deria Nur Haliza at the G1 USO warm-up in Maryland (she lost 4-6 5-7 to Amanda Anisimova in R3); she played a close match against Jacqueline Cako at 25K Raleigh qualies (lost 3-6 6-1 5-7 ).

This week, she's playing G1 Jerry Simmons Pan American Closed ITF Championships in Tulsa! She beat Zoe Hitt 3 & 1 in R1, and (5)Jade Lewis (#78) 1-6 6-4 7-6(3) in R2 today  :bigclap:
She will face fellow 2001 born and US girl Natasha Subhash in R3 tomorrow

She's #425 this week, but reached a CHR of 278 in March.

GL to Abby this week, and in all her future tournaments! :cheer::cheer:

Well, Kayla continued her good form and snatched the title yesterday, routining 9th seed Kelly Chen in the final. ;)

Abby is the only girl who pushed her this week, she was the only girl to take a set off her - in all her other matches, Kayla never dropped more than 5 games! :worship:

Abby through to R3 as she just beat Eugenia Ganga 7-6(1) 6-0 in R2 :) :yeah:

Meltdown alert in the 1st set, as she went from 5-2* to 5-6* :scared: but she was merciless after that.

Taking advantage of her luck: 4th seed Fanny Stollar retired early in her R1 match, so she faced Eugenia instead :eek:h:

She will face fellow 2001 born 6th seed Anastasia Potapova (#37) in R3 today :(

R2 vs. 5th seed Tamara Zidansek (1997, junior CHR 17, WTA 289) is gonna be tough... :scared:

GA Orange Bowl time, Abby thrashed BFF (Q)Dominique Schaefer 0 & 3 in R1, but she just lost in R2 to 7th seed Tamara Zidansek, 3 & 2

Again having to face Tamara early :sobbing: :tears That's very unlucky, I think Tamara has the best pro ranking in the whole draw (? I'm too lazy to check :eek:h:), she was a set away from the actual title at Eddie Herr last week... :(
