Tauziat at No. #3? Sorry, when and for how long? I think it's when she reached Wimbly finals, right?

I remember Meredith Mcgrath being in top 20 after winning a grass tournament and reaching Wim semis in 96

tauziat was number 3 for one week in may 2000, so it has absolutely nothing to do with wimbledon 98 points. conchita took it after winning Berlin, and then mary took it after winning roland garros.

didn't Maria Bueno win something like 7 slams? She only got to 4th, that's pretty weird.

Yes Kamio too....... I also want to say Kazuko Nagatsuka, Akiko Kijimuta and Wiltrud Probst too but not sure. Duk Hee Lee went as high as 30.

mandlikova was also more succesfull then all number 2's and even as some number 1's so ranking doesn's say everything.

I didn't realise that Jelena Dokic made it that high.

That Tauziat no.3 ranking is an interesting point - she gets onto the no.3 list because of one week at no.3 when Venus was injured. It would be interesting to see how long some of those people spent at their highest position.

Interesting list :).

Thanx Brian :)

I was looking for Helen Gourlay-Cawley in that list, I may have overlooked her name. She was a French and Aussie finalist in the 70's (would the rankings go back that far???) and I always wondered what her highest ranking was??

I corrected the Coetzer typo. I caught 2 yesterday, a surprisingly low total for what must be close to 200 names. Added Duk-Hee Lee. What were the high ranks for Kamio and Nagatsuka? (To save me looking them up? Did Kyoko reach hers after that final against Joanette Kruger?) I do recall noticing one time that there were 5 or 6 Japanese players in the top 30 simultaneousy.

Anyone want to do a breakdown or analysis by country?
