I have never been a big fan of Alex largely because I never see her play so there's nothing to form an opinion of, but she seems ok, has had some good results. I have nothing against her, and actually root for her at Wimbledon because she's a self-styled grass specialists, a rarity these days.

But I checked it out today on the web, the woman, 1998 forward, first round losses each and every year at the U.S. Open. The girl has never won a single match in singles, not one, with SIX tries. You guys want to crap in Iva and Anna and the rest, they have at least won matches at the U.S. Open. And she was seeded at least the last two years!! Even for the biggest Alex fan, that is pretty bad!! I mean, come on, does it get any worse than this? Is this some kind of record? Alex always plays a lot and does well indoors, so she will play a lot this season, but what's her deal?? Is 6 consecutive losses in the first round a record???

Alex had all the chances in the world to work past getting to the first round at the USO. Her best chance was in 1999 after she got pas thte semifinal at Wimbeldon. Her game fell apart when it was revealed that Dr J. was her father (something that was a secret for 19 yeras) and she was unprepared to deal with it in the media (even though her mother used to write for the NYT) and it affected her game and I blame her mother for that. She was the one blabbing about Alexandra having a famous father at Wimbeldon knowing that someone in the media would dig and find out who it was. Then she made the mistake thinking she was another Richard Williams, Stefano Capriati or Melanie Molitor adn trying to coach her daughter. No wonder her career is a mess!

She should join Anna K in the booth and start commentating pronto!

Actually if she dumps her mom as coach and hires a fitness trainer and gets in the best physical condition that she has been in her life she could do some damage.

Thankfully she was not on CENTER COURT with a huge fanbase oggling her every move while making a complete ass out of herself.

Right now put her with the other marshmellow heads and send her on the first jetplane out of there. LMAO

Alex is going thru the motions just like so many other players. Lina K, Anna K, Daniela H. just to name a few.

Alex has 4 problems.

#1. She is lazy(refuses to get her ass in the gym)

#2. She plays too much tennis but not improving her game. (going thru the motions)

#3. She refuses to dump her mom and hire a real coach.

#4. She lacks mental toughness, which the 3 things that I mentioned are the reasons.

She controls her own destiny, it is up to her to get her pot bellied piggy ass in shape or continue to take ass beatings that she should be winning.

i agree it's pretty pathetic especailly for a talented player like alex but at least she took a set off loit. loit isn't exactly a terrible player. i actually think it is a good result for alex, i wanted her to win and she has the talent but the way she has been going it is a good result.

I wouldn't really call her a grass specialist. Her volley technique is pretty bad.
If the one non-embarassing result of your 5 year career is on grass, then you are a grass specialist. Maybe someday Alex can win a Tier V on clay, then she will be a claycourt specialist.

Alex can hardly win a match on clay, let alone a Tier V. Its too bad there are not Tier V's indoors.
But I think people forget Alex was really close to winning a Tier III on hardcourt, she had championship points against Lisa Raymond in Memphis.

Maybe some posters need to figure out why they have such spite for this struggling young player, all of you can't be Capriati fans.
