This coming January, unlike most years, there are several Aussie players with a lot of points to defend so could go backwards by the end of February.

Ash: Sydney F and AO QF
Kim: will lose lots of points from Brisbane and AO3R
Zoe: Hobart and AO2R
Astra: AO quali and 2R
Belinda: earned almost half her points in Burnie W
Des: Brisbane quali

I doubt we will see similar heroics in 2020 (except for Ash).

And I know people don't care about doubles as much but Sam defending the title at AO.

I hope Pri and Liz can do something this summer. Hopefully they have been putting in the hard yards.

Weird that there hasn’t been any announcement re wildcards for AO yet. Usually by this time one or two discretionaries have been announced, with the remaining one or two reserved for January. This is the first year in quite some time that no one has been announced before the December Showdown.

Sharapova didn't enter AO Qualifying so I guess she's secured herself a WC.

Zoe didn't enter too so I guess her injury must be quite serious

Kim and Zoe are going to have quite a big ranking drop after January

Sorry; I thought I could edit the top post but it seems I can't (after 24 hrs).

With no WCs announced I think they’ll probably see the results in Brisbane? I feel like Astra would have one in the bag but if Inglis and Liz excel in Brissy and Hon doesn’t then it’ll be interesting

I know we can’t edit the main post anymore but has there been any announcements since then? Any news on any further WCs or Qualies?

Only that Sam is confirmed as MDWC in Hobart, which I didn't have.
Moderator Marcus1979 has kindly agreed to make edits for me. I'll only ask for major updates.

They really are keeping their cards close to their chest this year...or they are waiting to see what happens after week 1. Are all the Bris WCs allocates it is there still one left?

Ellen Perez has QWC for Brisbane

There should be one left. Seems Stosur and Venus have top 20 WCs, while Tomljanovic has a discretionary one. The one left will probably go to Sharapova, but nothing is confirmed.

Arina is playing in Auckland. She has entered doubles with Jess Moore. Monique has also entered with Srebotnik.

Speculating that Sharma, Hon, Inglis, Cabrera, Aiava, McPhee and Perez will be in Brisbane Q either direct or with WC.

Poor Zoe has glandular fever. No injury. Maybe pushed too hard last year. Still very unlucky.

Is mentioned below and a good article on Bai.

What a waste of a WC on Ellen
