2019 TT Management Thread

Questions on becoming a tournament manager?
Every Tennis Tipping player is allowed to manage.
New managers should start with challenger tournaments to get a feel of how to manage.
A tournament thread should be opened at least 2 weeks before the tournament is set to begin.

If you sign up to manage a tournament, make sure you will have adequate time to provide updates to the thread, post differences on time, post the OOP on time, and answer any questions players may have. Make sure to also follow all the guidelines that managers are trusted to follow.

Anyone is able to request to manage a tournament - all you need to do is post what tournament you would like to have in the thread after that month's schedule has been posted. This thread will be updated regularly with the TT schedule and manager stats.

Management Guidelines for all Managers & Tournaments

1. Managers have to post at least one updated Entry List before the 1st deadline is over.
2. Managers have to post an updated Entry List once the 1st deadline is over and they need to post a further update of the Entry List once the Withdrawal Deadline (always Tuesday 6pm CET/CEST) is over.
3. Please make sure that you don't forget to post a list of players names only once the Withdrawal Deadline is over (to make it easier for the board to check for double commitments)
4. Managers should update the first page regularly with timely updates of: Entry Lists, Draws/Results, Daily OOP, & anything else they would like to add.
5. Managers should also post the TT Schedule of Play & Deadlines on the first page.
6. Managers should post timely differences.
7. Managers should be aware of the basic rules of TT & other rules vital for managing.
8. Managers should check for the deadline before they post the OOP. They should also post the OOP in time and post first and last names of the players, to make sure that everyone knows who will actually play.
9. When posting the OOP, make sure players know who to send to by posting a link to send you a direct message.
10. Managers should post a LL/ALT List.
11. Managers should post the list of players in the tournament thread after they post an actual entry list. This will allow the board to easily check for double commitments.
12. Managers should inform the board if a player enters with a PR (protected rankings) or enters with a WC (wild card).
13. In ITF qualifying matches, there is now a match TB in the 3rd set. Please make sure you make that aware to players if there are qualifying matches on the OOP. (ex. 64 46 10-5 64 46 64)

The guidelines above are only the basic rules for managers to follow. However, many managers like to go a step further and post H2H's, interviews, schedule of play's, etc.

MANAGERS, DON'T FORGET

The TT OOP should have in its contents:

- The round for which you are tipping
- 3 matches should be Tie Break matches, others should all be SR matches
- TB1 should always be part of the OOP from Day 2 and at least one TB should be part of Day 1 (if there is a two days round), rest is up to the manager
- The person/people TT players are suppossed to send their picks to and the deadline to send picks

The TB matches should be considered to be the most difficult to predict in the schedule!

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask! Looking forward to a great 2019!! :D

TT Code of Conduct

1. General

1.1 TT is a game where the best standards of sportsmanship are expected.

1.2 This code of conduct is intended to raise awareness of acceptable behaviour in TT threads.

1.3 By entering into any tournament a player agrees to accept this code, whether or not he has actually read it.

1.4 The code will apply to all TT tournaments, including exhibitions and friendlies.

1.5 This code will take effect when the first tournament thread of the 2016 season is opened. It will then be subject to possible amendments.

1.6. The TT Board shall be responsible for the interpretation of this code, and for taking any action necessary under it, and their decision shall be final.

1.7 Where required by the context “he” shall be read as “he/she” and “player” shall be read as “player or players”

2. The Manager

2.1 The manager will be aware of the Time Zone for his tournament, and its relationship to CET/CEST

2.2 The manager will attempt to volunteer for tournaments which best fit in with his personal commitments.

2.3 Except in an emergency a manager will not manage more than one tournament in any week.

2.4 If opened in “skeleton” form the thread will be updated at least 2 days before the first deadline. In the meantime the manager will respond promptly to any queries by players/potential players.

2.5 The entry lists will be updated at least one day before the first deadline and at regular intervals thereafter.

2.6 The manager will publish the OOPs as soon as possible, and will attempt to give a window of at least 12 hours for the players to send picks.

2.7 The manager may delegate responsibility for posting the OOP to another person in order to achieve the 12 hour window.

2.8 The manager will usually aim to post differences within 1 hour of start of play (always after the deadline).

2.9 The manager will post results (updates for a 2 day round) as soon as possible.

2.10 In case of unfinished matches the manager will give full instructions regarding the sending of picks.

2.11 Where 2 rounds are played in one day, the manager will try to post differences for the second round when the results of the first are known, but he is not obliged to do so. If differences are not posted he will respond to players’ reasonable requests for information.

2.12 The manager will be familiar with the TT rules, particularly those governing tie-breaks, and will ask for advice if in doubt.

2.13 The manager will keep the first page of the thread updated, especially the draws and the OOP

2.14 If using the -Evita- Spreadsheet the manager will be responsible for its correct operation, and will be prepared to double-check any result on request.

2.15.The manager will treat all players impartially.

2.16 The manager will be courteous and considerate at all times, even when provoked.

2.17 The manager will be especially tolerant and helpful towards players new to Tennis Tipping.

3. The Players

3.1 The players should remember the one tournament per week rule, and their commitment should be clear, particularly in doubles.

3.2 Players are responsible for checking the entry lists and making sure their name is included in the draw.

3.3 Players will remember that the manager has a private life, and be prepared to be flexible when necessary.

3.4 Players may request OOPs, differences or results before the deadlines mentioned in this code, but must do so politely.

3.5 Players are free to criticize the manager, but must be specific and not make generalizations.

3.6 Players must not accuse the manager of laziness, incompetence or bias without clear and precise evidence.

3.7 Players must not personally abuse the manager, their opponents or any fellow player.

3.8 If a player breaches the code, the manager may, at his sole discretion, give the player a chance to retract before taking any action.

3.9 A separate thread in TT has been opened for disciplinary matters.

3.10 The TT board has the option to discipline players, who regularly break the rules of the Code of Conduct.
Players who are in at risk of discipline will receive an official warning before, method of discipline will be individual for each case and will be discussed by the board.

A new season has arrived! :bounce:

Firstly, I want to thank every manager that volunteered to help run this great game. Without you guys (and gals), TT just simply wouldn't happen. I'm looking forward to managing the manager thread :)p) again this year. If there are any questions, please don't hesitate the ask. So without further ado, the January schedule:

I laughed when read this post as interested in first 3 weeks in Jan but can maybe help more in FEB :laugh2::laugh2:

On a serious note, it will be great to have you back regularly, one of the big influences I have used for Quality Management events , I spent much time going over yours/AdeyC/goOudinUSA (add Keqtqiadv on MTF) events trying to figure how I can make mine more interesting , plus not do the same every time :wink2: adding ^bibi^ recent return gave some new fresh ideas, love it :hearts:

I'm not going to be available early season, had a blast kicking off the season in Auckland last year (think did it justice :wink2: ) , and really the whole season on TF , think only did 9 events, but enjoyed them all , players are quite a bit more responsive here on TF outside of CHINA where everyone is asleep .

Good luck on your PR comeback and I look forward to playing in your tournaments again , fun year ahead, where I can choose where to play finally :grin2:
