This is interesting. So even some late 2017 results would be converted for the shadow ranking purposes (Dubai, Pune, Navi Mumbai ITFs), which won't be convereted at the end of 2018.Shadow rankings will be used for acceptance into tournaments in the first 3 weeks of the 2019 season.
I don't think i like it, this gives more value to random end of the year indian 25k events over 15k of the same week, palyed at the time no players would adjust their schedules to the current itf changes. I would prefer them doing it according to old system altogether, the loss of 15k points snubs some players that might have a unique chance to make cuts like Brito if she would have strong end of 2018. It would also give them chance to prove their old rank and a headstart to replace the points lost to ITF ranking (or 1-2 points for first round loss if they don't belong).
