Re: WG Play off: Canada vs Romania?

''It's official, Simona won't play against Canada. She announced that in an interview a few minutes ago.''
Neither Monica Niculescu and i think neither Genie

Re: WG Play off: Canada vs Romania?

If Monica is also out, this becomes a tough one for ROU, even without Genie.

The Romanian team will besically depend a great deal on Begu & Dulgheru being there and in top form (no injuries, no personal reasons to pull out as well, etc). It can very well be both of them also hope for good results in Stuttgard, and might want to conserve their efforts for that.

Unfortunately Irina gets knee injury when the score was 2-0 for her in the third set,was obviously that she will lose the match, great response of Dulgheru toward Genie ;) you know all why... 1-1 in the first day between Canada and Romania...worried about Irina, don't know if she will play today.

Good job Eugenie.
Somebody needs to teach Genie a class in Psych warfare 101 and Behavioural Psych, and maybe even Politics.

Three reasons why not shaking hands backfired.

1) First of all, you are not representing yourself in this competition, you are representing your country and thus you are seen as an ambassador of Canada. This is not the same as playing in the WTP and representing yourself. Big difference. Therefore, as a representative of Canada, you have insulted not only Alexandra, but an entire nation. Which is why each player facing you in competition from Romania will try extra-hard and be extra-focused to beat you.

2) Not shaking hands is supposedly to make you feel no emotional connection to an opponent. Okay, understood. But, what it also does is motivate and provide emotional ammunition to the opponent for the match.

3) Usually, emotional ammunition comes from insults, feeling wronged, or plain injustice. You do not provide any emotional cause to yourself in the process. You just become cold and rigid, while your opponent becomes hot and relaxed!

You have talent Genie, stick to the game. Because, it's the games ON the court that count!

Romania qualify in the next round after 3-2 victory over Canada in Montreal
