Hi all! Happy New Year!

I've done this thread since, I believe, 2005. And now seems to be the perfect time to get on with it. :bounce: With the '08 season just about to get underway for Justine, let's discuss what we hope Justine achieves during this stretch in her career. Obviously, good health remains atop everyone's list.

I'm personally looking for Justine to win all 6 of the season's biggest titles. The probability of this taking place is rather slim, but I believe she is more than capable of pulling it off.

While the slams and the olympic games remain top priorities, I do expect a very successful beginning to the season, and will be hoping for Justine to win the first two GS as well as a slew of smaller titles, and perhaps a win at Miami finally. Miami, in addition the disaster that is Amelia Island, is the only title Justine hasn't won that she typically plays within the first third of the season.

And of course, a consistent drubbing of the top competitors will be delicious in addition to a continued winning streak.

Allez Justine!!! All the best in 2008!

I don't want much from her, i'll just name a few things

1- Healthy Injury free Year
2- AO title
3- FO title
4- Wimby title
5- Olympic Gold
6- USO Title
7- YEC title
8- at least 3 other titles
9- an extended ranking lead
10- extended winning streak to at least over 50 matches
11- a 100% w/l percentage
12- no UE's or DF's for the ENTIRE season
13- at least 10 aces per match
14- She MUST wear the stella mccartney line and start working as a model in between tournament victories
15- She needs to out-earn maria in endorsments
16- she should do some cameo movie appearances
17- she needs some bling (Serena Style, Maybe some Big Gold Hoops)
18- she should discover a cure for cancer
19- climb mount everest in between RG and Wimbledon
20- Have a worldwide number one album

but seriously number 1 is the most important if number 1 comes true most of the rest will come disregarding anything i wrote after number 7

Expectations: A complete healthy season much like 2007 (really good the way she remained healthy from start to finish).

The rest I mentioned at the beginning of last yr.. never lose to Pova, Amelie, Venus, or Serena again. (she was almost perfect in that regard).

I also think I mentioned her winning all the GS. And as this is an Olympic year, I'll add that to the winnings as well.
That's all folks.lol.

I also wish her to play beautiful, inspired, impossible tennis on that racquet as it pleases me. The wins will definitely come.

I'm genuinely hoping for the Golden Slam. I think it's possible and I will be SO excited if she pulls it off!

But I can't say that I expect it as such. I would be very disappointed if she didn't win any Slams or the Olympics. I would be content with RG and another Olympic gold. If she wins RG this year, she gets a RG record - most consecutive titles - which would please her so much. Anything else would be a bonus.

I agree. I think I may be one of the few who would prefer for her to win RG every year until she retires over one win at Wimbledon. Obviously, I want her to win every single Grand Slam until tennis itself implodes, but if RG is to be sacrificed in place of Wimbledon, I would not be thrilled with the decision.

From a certain point of view I would like her to win the Australian Open and Wimbledon more than anything else. I admit this is because there's a small part of me which thinks that with those two wins, many fans and tennis experts will shut up, or at least will have a harder time belittling her accomplishments. Some people say she won the 2004 Oz Open because the field was poor and she was gifted the decisive break in the third set of the final with a bad call on a Clijsters smash, not to mention the way she was treated in 2006, and that she can't be considered one of the greatest because she never won at SW19.
However, this is a mean thought that threatens the zen attitude I yearn for :), and for the most part I don't care what those people say, so I'll cover this up saying it's time for a new AO crown after four years (it would be fitting, she won the US Open again after such length of time), and Wimbledon, well, she deserves to win it at least once.

I want so bad to see how could be her reaction if she ever wins Wimbledon one day :awww:

I think she will win Wimbledon the year she won't win the french, she is such a revanchist.

For me the golden slam is a bit too difficult to do, but if she wins Wimbledon and the gold in Beijing, I would be totally delighted

I am also one of the few who relishes her having a chokehold on RG. In fact, that's the reason I wasn't too upset with the Wimby loss of 2007. I have a deep pride in her performance and ownership of RG.

If she wins Wimby and the FO this yr. I have no doubt where my extreme pleasure will lie. (with the RG win of course.lol).

The bottom line is, I think JH is a rising star (even though she's #1), and there is greater tennis, technical and mental that she can tap into, and I've seen glimpses of it last year. If she can reach for that more consistently, the crowns will come undoubtedly.

I see her dominating 2008 like Federer.
Wimby can some when it will, we're not in a hurry. Just RG and one other slam is good enough. 3 would be a bonus, but she's well capable of taking all 4 plus the Olympics.

well, i want her to win AO, because this will give her the chance for the Golden Slam, and as maiden mentioned, her win there in 2004 was not fully acknowledged because of the said "poor competition" and the "third set call against kim". and not to mention it is also serena's domain (3 AO titles) so i would love it if justine snatch that title from her....(greedy much?):p

i also want her to win RG because it is Juju's garden, and i could not imagine anyone taking the title from her...and it's history in the making for ju there in RG...

and wimby of course because she needs that, or should i say she desereves that title, her game suits to it, and she's got 2 previous finals appearance already and im not sure how many SFs...and that will give her the career GS, and if it happens this year, career golden slam? is it? as the defending gold medalist for olympics? im not sure though ;)....oh how ironic, the first GS finals appearance for ju....

olympics, obviously, ju is doing this for belgium and i know ju really wants it...and i think this is the last year that Ju will get a decent chance of winning the gold because obviously the next olympics will be only after four years, but still, don't count her out ;)

USO, oh she can give that to maria or ana...lol....i don't know, last USO, i wasn't really expecting ju to win, but she made it and made america realized how amazing player and person ju is, so i think that itself is good enough for me...

YEC, three in a row is nice, like in RG, but wouldn't be expecting much...

guess i want everything ha? but yeah, let's start with AO then i'll think of the others later on...

Halaena and Maiden, I hope you really don't believe that winning the AO and even Wimby this year will stop the belittling of Justine's achievements. I doubt even the Golden Slam will stop them from doing that.

My priorities for 2008 are:
1. Roland Garros (4th consecutive, a new record)
2. Wimbledon (career golden slam)
3. Olympic Games (2nd consecutive, a new record)
4. Australian Open (2nd one)
5. US Open (3th one)
6. SEC (3th one)

Ah ah! Paul.be, I guess you're right, some people will never stop bashing Justine... but maybe the more objective ones, even if they root for another player, will have to change their mind about the way she's considered among the more successful active (and inactive) players.

Anyway, this is not that important, is it? We know what she's worth, and above all, SHE knows what she's worth, so I guess the main wish is that she stays healthy, and as some of you already pointed out, all the good things will come as a consequence.
