Australian Open:
Hewitt or Kafelnikov. I thought Kafelnikov was going to win it this year, and he didn't. But he always seems to do well there. If Hewitt isn't burnt out from the end of this year (I dont think he will be), then he should be a main contendor.

Roland Garros:
Is he is 100% healthy, then there is no reason Guga can't win this again. I expect Ferrero will be a definate contendor again, and if he doesn't have to play Guga, he should reach the finals. But i'm not convinced he has it in him to beat Guga there yet. We'll see. I figure it will be one of these two.

Wimbledon:
This ones kind of a toss up... though I don't think Goran will repeat. If his shoulder was healthy, maybe, but its only going ot get worse as times passes. So I figure, why not Federer?

US Open:
Hewitt or Safin. However Safin at his best, should beat Hewitt. If Agassi is playing well at this point, he should contend as well.
I hope there will be a first time slam winner next year. The only ones I suggested were Federer or Ferrero. I don't think Roddick will win one next year. But he could prove me wrong

predicting men's champions and runner's up is SOOOO much more difficult than deciding on women's finalists!!!

oz open.
agassi def. kafelnikov

french
ferrero def. kuerten

wimby
hewitt def. roddick

us
haas def. hewitt

i have no explanation for any of them... i think everyone here is taking educated guesses here with no reasons for their prediction!

AusOpen: Kafelnikov defeats Haas
Like Becca, I expected Kafelnikov to at least reach the final this year but he did not. Judging by Yevgeny's performances this year compared to last yr, he is indeed a changed man and is now more focused on his tennis. On rebound ace, I think he is always the favourite. Haas, on the other, seems not to perform well in GSs, but after his breakthrough wins this year, I think he will have new found confidence to do well down under, afterall he did have a silver Olympic metal on rebound ace surface.

RG: JC Ferrero defeats Guga. I think this time it will be Ferrero's year to win. 2 of them are the undisputed 1 & 2 players on clay this year and I expect next year to be the same.

WIM: Safin defeats Sampras. I think Safin seems to be underrated when it comes to grass. He can play on grass well with his big serve and game. Sampras as usual will always play his best tennis at Wimbledon and I think he is still very hard to beat there.

USO: Safin defeats Hewitt. Hewitt will try to defend his title but I think next year, Hewitt will be a hunted man with all players determining to play well against the No. 1 player. I'm giving Safin a pretty high rating, because I hope that he will bounce back to his 2000 form after such a disappointing yr. He has expressed that he is chasing the No. 1 position next yr so I am giving him the nod.

Marat does not move well on grass. He slips and slides everywhere. I guess you can say he is clumsy on the surface.

The Pea, there is another player, who was out in the first or second round of in his first three Wimbledons.. Well, that was 10 years ago. And they were saying about him exactly what you are saying about Safin now.. Could you guess the name of the other player by any chance?
