The final of the Los Angeles Metropolitan Tournament was definitely in 1937. The local newspapers prove it.

The Southern California Midwinter Championships began in 1936. But even its final was played during 1937. Again, the local newspapers prove it.

Early June?, Moscow vs Kiev, Moscow, USSR
(reported in a Norwegian newspaper on June 15)

Moscow d Kiev 7-4
(The Moscow men must have been good -- the four women's and mixed results below all went the way of Kiev. The newspaper report I found lists only one men's result, won by Novikov of Moscow.)

Gorina (Kiev) d Surnatscheva 6-3 6-4
Kalmykova (Kiev) d Olsen 6-2 6-0

WD: Kalmykova/Gorina d Gringant/Olsen 6-3 6-4

January?, Hillcrest Invitation, Los Angeles, California, US (Hard)

FI: Mary Arnold d. Helen Germaine 2-6 8-6 8-6
This one's a bit baffling.

I only found one newspaper mention of this tournament, and no confirmation of the final. The following results were reported in the Saturday, Feb 27 LA Times:

Catherine Malcolm d Barbara Winslow 6-1 6-3
Mary Arnold d Eleanor Purdy 6-4 6-1
Helen Germaine d Betsy Clark 6-2 6-2
Peggy Kerr d June Holmes 6-4 6-2

Arnold d Mary Lou Johnson 6-2 6-3

and the following were scheduled to be played the 27th:

Marjorie Lauderbach vs Peggy Kerr
Germaine vs Kerr/Lauderbach
Arnold vs Catherine Malcolm

Also on the schedule for 27th was the men's semifinals, so it would make sense if the last two of those matches were the semfinals. That would give us:

1R?
Mary Arnold d Eleanor Purdy 6-4 6-1
Peggy Kerr d June Holmes 6-4 6-2

QF
Helen Germaine d Betsy Clark 6-2 6-2
Marjorie Lauderbach vs Peggy Kerr
Arnold d Mary Lou Johnson 6-2 6-3
Catherine Malcolm d Barbara Winslow 6-1 6-3

SF
Germaine d [Kerr or Lauderbach]
Arnold d Catherine Malcolm

FI: Mary Arnold d. Helen Germaine 2-6 8-6 8-6
