Can't stop thinking about the problem about Austrian Championships 1898/1899:
found in Prager Tageblatt 1899: (ANNO-Prager Tagblatt)

(old German letters are difficult to read today, but I do my best)
Frl. = Miss / Frau = Mrs.

Austrian Lawn-Tennis-Tournament
includes Championships of Austria and Championships of Bohemia

Tuesday issue:

handicap doubles
"3rd round": Mudroch /v.Koritic def. Baronesse Berlepsch/Baronesse Ringhoffer 2:0 sets "interesting happening"
Frau Rosenbaum/Frau Glaser vs. Frl. Mascha/Schmidt (no result given, but it's clear who had won)
"... same players [same pairs?] in final as last year..."

handicap mixed:
"Ringhoffer/Ringhoffer (top half of draw) defeated all easily enroute"

Kalser/Dering (bottom half) defeated enroute Frau Glaser/Kinsky, Frau Schmeykal/Graf Montecuccoli, Baronesse Spens-Boden/Harden
"Kaiser defeated her teacher Harden"

"final was postponed due to darkness in the middle of first set"

-------------------------

Thursday, June 1st

Championships of Bohemia:

Handicap "4th round" has reached:
Baronesse Berlepsch (by def. Frau Glaser), Frl. Kalser, Frl. Christl "and finally" Frl. Jda

women (trophy "Prince Batthyany"):
Baronesse Berlepsch def. Frau Glaser 6 3, 5 7, 6-3, "both were before winning"
Frau Rosenbaum def. Frau Schmeykal 75 62 "by short forced play"

(later that day)
Baronesse Ringhoffer def. Frau Rosenbaum 63 62 "public attracting match"
thereafter [also Baronesse Ringhoffer?] def. Frl. Mudroch 86 64

"Ringhoffer should have played against Frl. Kaiser, but it was postponed to next day"

------------------------
Friday, June 2nd

5th day:
"... good weather ... this event seems to be at least equal to those in Germany... better organized than in Berlin ... all the Prag society participated..."

Handicap (Championships of Austria???)
final Frl. Kalser def. Frl. Jda
3rd place: Baronesse Berlepsch and Frl. Christl
[nothing about who played who in SF]

Championships of Bohemia:

Baronesse Dinka Ringhoffer def. Frl. Kalser 62 26 64 "savely defeated"
3rd place Baronesse Berlepsch and Frl. Mudroch

"second season for Frl. Kalser as a player"
there's no hint yet that Kaiser is the holder in that two paper issues, but she didn't play a match before the last - in the Wednesday and Tuesday issue no women's singles matches mentioned

handicap doubles
final: Rosenbaum/Glaser def. Frl. Mudroch/von Koritic

women doubles*: played Tuesday
final: Rosenbaum/Frau Glaser def. Frl. Mudroch/von Koritic

*in the Wednesday issue is only mentioned "women doubles"
but without appearing in the Friday issue which includes all event winners this match is the handicap doubles

handicap mixed:
final: Frl. Kalser/Dering def. Baronesse Dinka Ringhoffer/Baron Alfred Ringhoffer 11-9 5-7 8-6
3rd place: Frl. Mudroch/Graf Wratislaw and Baronesse Spens-Boden/Harden

May 28-June 1, Bohemian Championships, Prague, Bohemia (Clay)

CR: Baroness Dinka von Ringhoffer d. Bertha Kalser (Aut) 6-2 2-6 6-4

The winner's proper name was Baroness Leopoldine von Ringhoffer
with the newspaper info mentioned above:

draw = at least 9

1R: Baroness Ringhoffer - bye?
1R: Frau Rosenbaum d. Schmeykal 75 62
1R: Frl. Mudroch - bye?
1R: ??? - bye?
1R: Baronesse Berlepsch - bye?
1R: Frau Glaser - bye?
1R: ??? - bye?
1R: Frl. Kalser - bye?

QF: Baroness Ringhoffer d. Frau Rosenbaum 63 62
QF: Frl. Mudroch d. ???
QF: Baronesse Berlepsch d. Frau Glaser 63 57 63
QF: Frl. Kalser d. ???

SF: Baroness Ringhoffer d. Frl. Mudroch 86 64
SF: Frl. Kalser d. Baronesse Berlepsch

F: Baroness Ringhoffer d. Frl. Kalser 6-2 2-6 6-4

There are at least two important matches not given in the newspaper. (Two daily issues without women's results, probably not interersting enough to report)
1. Berlepsch is mentioned as 3rd place = SF-loss (same as Mudroch), but no match is given.
It makes sense that she had lost to Kalser.
2. Also Mudroch's QF-match is not given.

Frl. Bertrand was the holder, therefor can't be a Challenge Round match.
Including these missing matches in deliberation, the draw above is the best possible.

--------------

For handicap singles there is lesser info, but still gives the draw size of at least 17.
I think a good hint that there are few byes (if any) in that draw above.
