Shuai Zhang becomes the 33rd seed, and we now have 4 Lucky Losers
Apparently, it's not completely healed and she doesn't want to risk the rest of the season.
Cheers :hatoff:She has a lingering wrist issue since her massively successful clay season (RG final). Before Wimbledon, she had a good chance of making it to YEC, but now she'd better heal the wrist and come strong in Australia.
4 Lucky Losers already :help:
These many late withdrawals in Grand Slams these days are pathetic
All because this stupid new rule which gives money to players who withdraw late :weirdo:
Players who withdraw from main draw after Grand Slam Quali draw is made, should be punished.
They should get no prize money at all and even pay some penalty.
The rules should be changed. Sooo many LLs in Grand Slam main draws is stupid.
Three rounds, and they are really battling hard out there. Last year the men's draw had like 12 retirements the first four days, it is better to have fit LLs surely.definitely not... it's better to have more LLs, than to have a bunch of players tanking in 1R to get the full prize money. This way we have players into the draw who are trying all-out to win... and all these girls won 2 rounds in qualifying to get there, it's not like they are getting into MD for nothing. It's a big opportunity for them.
