Remember, every choice, whether good or bad, can be deadly...

Suicide Tokyo

2006 Final: yarden7 (ISR) def. ~CANUCK~ (CAN) (DAY 04 over DAY 03)

What to Do

Choose ONE winner of ONE singles match EACH day to advance in the tournament. With each correct pick, you make it to the next day and so forth.

Pick Wisely
You may only pick a person once for the ENTIRE tournament, and when you do, you cannot choose them again.
If your pick loses, you are out of Suicide Tokyo.

1.) Remember to make a pick each day, people! And you must pick the winner of the match BEFORE it starts. Any picks after a match has commenced, or zero picks at all for the day, will be counted as incorrect picks and you will no longer be in contention for the fabulous Tokyo trophy.

2.) If your pick withdraws from the event before her match has started, you may have a back-up pick handy to count as your official choice for that day. If your back-up is someone you've chosen earlier in the tournament, seeing as you cannot pick someone in the same event twice, you would be disqualified.

3.) There will be NO byes in this event. Like more than five people will sign up here anyway.

4.) To sign up, just say "In" or any kind of variation implying you have interest in playing my wonderful tournament this week. Saying "Boogers" would suffice.

5.) Oh, and loves, be advised to only play ONE event this week. If you're caught playing that rat bastard event in Stuttgart along with mine, you will get ZERO points for this week and disqualified from both events. :hearts:

6.) And one last thing: do not edit your posts with your picks after you have posted them. Doing so will get you booted from the event. :wavey:

Ranking Points for Suicide Tokyo (Tier III)
Code:
DAY 01 - 1
DAY 02 - 9
DAY 03 - 18
DAY 04 - 30
DAY 05 - 100
DAY 06 - 125
DAY 06 - 138 (WITH PICK)
WINNING - 150

In the event that there are atleast 12 people and no one reaches DAY 06,

2nd Place - 85
1st Place - 120

Re: #100 - Suicide Tokyo: The AIG Japan Open Championships - Sign up now!

FRIDAY ORDER of PLAY
Williams v. Wozniacki
Razzano v. Pennetta

QUEEN VENUS, EMPRESS OF THE UNIVERSE v. WOZNIACKI - -- except not! :D Two of my favorite players, battling it out for a spot in the final. This is Wozniacki's breakthrough event, easy. Although Venus for the win, definitely. Law_ also has given himself some nice breathing room--he can pick Razzano while no one else can...interesting.

PENNETTA v. RAZZANO - Oooooooooooooh. Pennetta's form continues to be challenged! Most everyone, if not everyone left, has picked one of these two, so everyone has to pick Venus (aside from Law_ I believe) if they aren't sure, or want to take a risk. This is tough, really tough. I'd go for Razzano, but you never know what Flavia's gonna do. Good luck picking, guys!

All of these decisions are up to you! (And me  ) Not anymore!

Re: #100 - Suicide Tokyo: The AIG Japan Open Championships - Sign up now!

The Seeds

Firstly, it is an honor to be holding a suicide event where one of my all-time favorites is the leading star. Naturally, with Venus currently the Seoul Champion :hearts:, she is the clear favorite to win these tournaments back to back and continue her streak in Bangkok -- where I will also be holding a very very wonderful suicide event, so please, sign up now while we're ahead! No one plays Bangkok so get a cheap title!

However, the "?" mark in Venus' situation is her leg. She double faulted quite a bit in Seoul, and she's mentioned fatigue. Even on one leg I'd tip Venus to win these three events consecutively, but a few players who can put a thorn in her side in Tokyo...

I kid, I kid!

Now this is one wily little bitch here. Akiko Morigami has given Miss Venus quite a bit to think about this year. They've met twice, and both times they've gone three-sets, with Venus winning 64 in the third in Memphis (where she eventually won), and 75 in the third at Wimbledon after Morigami served for the match (where Venus also eventually won -- pattern? :hearts: )

She's a very talented girl and one of my favorite Japanese players. She can cause the top players problems and would likely meet Venus in the quarterfinal at her home event--so home girl gotta get it together quick.

Oh, Sugi. :awww: One of the brightest and most exciting tennis players of her time, Ai Sugiyama has had a pretty terrible year in singles and will probably lose to the Japanese qualifier she meets in the first round, but she's defending quarterfinalist points and was last year's WTA blogger at this event. If Sugiyama does somehow reach the final, she'd likely have to face a Japanese player in the first round, quarterfinal (Nakamura), semifinal (Morigami :silly: ), and perhaps Morita in the final.

Makiri. :hearts: Don't be surprised to see more trophies in her closet soon! At the start of the year, Kirilenko was little more than a joke to most people, but has turned her year around DRASTICALLY, beating a flurry of top 20 and 30 players for neigh on two months and has a real shot at making her third in a row final. She has a tough first round against Camille Chokopin and a tough potential quarterfinal against very talented counterpuncher Virginie Razzano--but after that it's smooth sailing to the final where we may just have a Seoul final re-match between Queen Vee and Miss Makiri.

#2 seed Sania Mirza can strike a clean forehand and sell a mean Sprite but the Indian sensation has been hit with injuries the past month. If she's feeling good and back to her best you can expect her in the quarterfinal--but a resurgent Flavia Pennetta may put a bit too much spice in her curry in their match-up.
