Re: Rumor: Did Osaka Drop Bajin Because Of His Romance With Another Player?

Unless the player is an immediate or soon to be threat I don't see the big deal. After all Sasha DID help get Naomi two slams.

Everyone is different though.

This stuff goes on all the time....

Re: Am I the only one who thinks that Osaka never wins another slam?

In my mind I see two shiny trophies hanging in her trophy case. One doesn't earn these by "luck" alone.

Nor could most women have closed out Screamerina and blocked out that crazy New York crowd...

Re: Am I the only one who thinks that Osaka never wins another slam?

My answer to that is I know a multiple slam champ when I see one. I've watched tennis over 40 years now. Baring a serious injury Naomi will win more majors.

Ostsapenko has a serious technical flaw...

Re: Am I the only one who thinks that Osaka never wins another slam?

Most players would run over grandma and throw it in reverse for Osaka's "one dimensional" game.

She's a kid who is having a tough time adjusting to the weigh of expectations. This early defeat...

Re: RG R3: Vondrousova d CSN 64 64

What a golden opportunity Vondrousova has now. I just hope she capitalizes on it!

Re: Ballkid treatment by players needs to be called out

This thread reminds me of how nice Evonne Goolagong was as a player. She was never a pain on the court to anyone-not once.

One ballkid wrote a letter about how he hit Evonne when he threw the ball...

Re: Do You Think Ladies Will Play Monte-Carlo One Day

The women played Monte Carlo until the mid to late 1970s.

It used to be a quality event for the ladies. In 1969 Ann Jones and Virginia Wade were in the final. Jones won easily, but what made the...

Re: Does Barty make the best use of the slice backhand since Graf"The Great"?

Henin and Mauresmo had far better slices than Barty. I give Ash a lot of credit for her talent and hard work ethic, but I still have serious doubts over whether or not a singles slam is in her future.

Re: IW Final: Andreescu def Kerber 6-4 3-6 6-4

WOW.

Drop shots, deep slice, topspin with depth AND power. That slice could do real damage on a low bouncing court that takes spin.

The Canadian-Romanian rascal just may be the real deal and...

Sorry to see the match end that way. Get better soon Serena.

Re: Serena Williams would Be THE OLDEST GS CHAMPION in nearly 100 YEARS

Well I think it is remarkable to win a major as a mom. Not many have done it in the last 100 years.

Totally agree with you about Serena though. To me it's her longevity that amazes the most. No...

Re: Funny Tennis Names

Susan Bralower.

She was a player from the 1950s who once lost to Althea Gibson at the US Nationals.

Re: bathroom breaks and medical time outs

I like that idea!

I guess bathroom breaks get me mad because it really does smack of gamesmanship. Chris Evert has said she never once took a bathroom break in her whole career.

A break...

Re: bathroom breaks and medical time outs

If players split sets they get a break before the 3rd. Other than that a bathroom break=lose of a game.

Not sure about medical time outs but would take steps to stop the abuse of them.

And end...

Re: The Haitian backbone behind the new world number one tennis player Naomi Osaka

Love that about her too. The bows and sweet little voice are VERY Japanese. Yet she also makes no bones about her ambition. I like the combination.

Clearly her Dad has been a strong and positive...

Re: I would put Steffi Graf and Serena Williams at the top

If Bammer had anything close to Serena's slams it would matter a lot. If Osaka continues to win slams and matches vs Serena expect it to be held over Serena's head despite the obvious age difference....

Re: Women's tennis GOAT criticizes Serena's behaviour

I really agree with the last sentence. She was certainly no feminist!

On the other hand like most things in life the truth about the Slims tour was more complicated. Margaret Court did want to...

Re: Women's tennis GOAT criticizes Serena's behaviour

I agree 100%

Winning a major for 13 consecutive years-is anyone else even close?
And no one comes close when is comes to reaching the semis or better in the modern era.

Unfortunately for Chris...

Re: Women's tennis GOAT criticizes Serena's behaviour

True enough. But then there is the Seles stabbing thing. And her head to head vs Navratilova is 7 apiece. And while she is up there is majors she doesn't hold the record in any of them.

Holding...

Re: Why would Court's 13 pre Open slams be counted equal to Open era slams?

Name one serious female player who was not allowed to enter slams in 1967 and was suddenly eligible in 1968.

Can't think of one.

There's just one problem with this statement-the concept of...

Re: Mouratoglou: Serena wouldn't have played AO SF!

Huh? Do you play tennis?

If she tanked after rolling her ankle how do explain having 3 more match points?

She lost. Get over it. The ankle roll was highly unfortunate. How much it affected her...
