\\\\\<<[Indian Tennis]>>/////
There are only 2 nations not represented in the forum.
One is the Indian, the other one is Uzbec.
So I have decided to dedicate one to the Indians, where women are often "forgotten":).

Current top 5, the only 5 players inside top 500.

351. Rushmi Chakravarthi
377. Sania Mirza
382. Meghaa Vakharia
401. Isha Lakhani (has disappeared since Indian Open (T4))
480. Ankita Bhambri

next in.
534. J. Sai Jayalakshmy QF Sidi Fredj $10k Jul 11

I just posted an article in the fed cup section, Shikha will play for India in 2005, Neha may in 2006 but I'm not sure how it will work out with residency qualifications, Neha was born in the US.

will Shika transfer nationality???

Sabatinifan Dec 15th, 2004 03:59 PM

she is I guess, I'm not sure how exactly it works because last year India allowed dual citizenship, with a three or five year residency period. Shika was born in India so I'm not sure if it makes it easier.

YAHOO!! Dec 16th, 2004 09:42 PM

Sania is number 1, and Anika is going to pass Rushmi soon.

Sania is at a career high 170 :) Let's hope she moves a lot higher in 2005. Good luck girl!

Should we include Sunitha Rao in this thread too?

Grachka Feb 8th, 2005 01:56 PM

Shikha :) has now officially changed nationality to Indian :)

She's lovely.

Missing_Hingis Feb 8th, 2005 04:53 PM

Is that one of the Uberoi sisters?
She should have changed when she could have become number one Indian player.
Sania Mirza has passed her now:).
