Yes, the best Croatian players MUST play. I mean the Top 20 girls Martic and Vekic.

Re: Fed Cup Croatia 2019

I just looked at the WTA ranking.
Croatia could have a very strong Fed Cup team with #22 Vekic and #24 Martic
A shame that Martic almost never plays Fed Cup (last time in 2014)

Re: Fed Cup Croatia 2019

Italy and Netherlands lost WG 2 play-offs and fell down to Europe/Africa Zone !

Some hard opponents for Croatia next year

- Ukraine (Svitolina, Tsurenko, Yastremska)
- Netherlands (Bertens must play in order to play Olympic Games)
- Italy
- Poland (Swiatek who is rising and rising)
- Serbia

Re: Fed Cup Croatia 2019

Yeah, another lost year for Croatia

A tough loss to Serbia (who peak in Fed Cup and played with their best team).

Croatia needs ALL their best players. THEN they have a chance to reach WG 2 play-offs.

Also I have the feeling (and we see this again and again) that Croatian players are among the weakest mentally. Not sure why but there are so many (talented) chokers in Croatian tennis. Sad to see all these wasted talents and their painful close losses ...

Also Croatia will have a problem when Jurak (very important for doubles) retires ...

I hope that next year ALL the best Croatian girls (Vekic, Konjuh, Martic) play Fed Cup !
Also Jurak of course. Fett must improve mentally a lot. She is a headcase/choker ...

Any reasonable person would already left in Majoli position. She did nothing. Unbelievable how someone with such bad results can still be the head of Croatian womens tennis.
We never had two players in good form playing at the same time.
There was a chance but our players were just not ready for it or in terrible form.
No matter who would be captain it was mission impossible without best players playing their best.
It is just unlucky that Martic has injury problems now and could not play or that Konjuh is in such state because this year was great chance to go through.
Also with each year passing by I think our players are less and less believing in it.

I would like to see Jelena Kostanic-Tosic as a captain once.

I actually stumbled upon some live stream and saw only the last game, and it was a pretty routine one, our girls couldn't really do much. But more importantly, before that game, I saw a changeover during which Ana was receiving treatment for the elbow...

Hope it's not serious.

6:1, 1:6 so far.

What's Fed Cup without some drama, right?

Not saying it's bound to happen, but it is a good sign for us that both Danilovic and Krunic already had to play today. If nothing else, our doubles team is more fresh.

Fingers crossed!

^ I know, but after taking the first very comfortably, her opponent took an MTO, which of course derailed her, but somehow she managed to come from a break in the third despite all that, and even saved 3 MP's later on. She was really close, but I believe that this time she might've really been just a bit unlucky. Not saying she can't choke away a win, let's not go that far, I'm just saying that she seemed to have held herself very well in tough conditions (mentally), and for someone with her problems, that's a good thing. She has to take every positive, no matter how small.

She has such matches all the time no matter what is ranking of the opponent.
Even against much better in form players than Danilovic.
But yeah it was expected outcome so of course nobody even counted on her to win, only I doubt she can take much positives from yet another close match loss.

One from yesterday, Jana said she didn't feel her serve well, Anči that she struggled a bit with the fact that she was playing a lefty, but still managed to win and is gaining back the confidence. And most importantly, that the arm feels fine
