I was a fan of hers for a while because her game is so pretty but then that period where she had a loser attitude against top players and kept eating bagels made me jump ship

The hardfought wins today and Kvitova going out confirmed Kiki is a top4 seed for RG. Avoids Osaka and Halep before the SF at least. And either Kerber or Pliskova(if she wins the title) before the final.

Which is great! If she loses to Osaka tomorrow now, because she's tired, i'm completely fine with it. This has already been a good week.

I thought she was the better player out there. Her problem is she gives away too many points. Shots that hit just out when Kiki had no chance to play them back. All those shots where landing in the 2nd set and Kiki had no clue what to do. I was praying for those shots to keep landing.

Kiki is like a machine. Every shot is routine. She is a hard worker. Nothing fancy about her shots. She is accurate, very effective. I see why she is winning so many matches. But her game is not pretty at all. Just routine shots.
Navarro's game, on the other hand, is so beautiful. I'll watch her LIVE over Kiki any time, win her lose. If you've never watched her LIVE, you have no idea how beautiful her game is.
She's got a new fan!!!!

Yeah, and at RG you play 1 match every 2 days. Which is much easier compared to these 2 weeks. She has a week off, so i'm sure she will be fine. As long as she gets a reasonable draw(no mladenovic or sakkari early) i think she will have enough energy. I do think tomorrow will be a tough task for her, considering the matches today. I don't think she'll be able to find her best level tomorrow against Osaka, but we will see. If she loses she has 9 days off at least.
Many players have admitted its harder to keep form in ths grand slam format. Cause you can get cold.

The only one from the final 4 in Madrid still alive in Rome. Also one of only 4 seeds remaining in this tournament.

She will probably play Osaka next, which is another good test of her abilities with how well Naomi is serving. While i'd love her to do the Rome and Madrid double (and it'd do wonders for her confidence), I worry about exhaustion going into RG. So from here on in i'm really happy with any result.

Re: Rome R3: [6] Kiki Bertens def. Carla Suárez Navarro 6-4 1-6 6-3

Her start to the clay season was shaky in Charleston where Kiki was defending champion but lost early to Sakkari.
However, she's really turned it around by winning Madrid and making QFs in Rome where she lost early last year (again to Sakkari).
The situation was challenging, having to play two long matches in one day, so it's great to see her come through that.
Carla can be dangerous, especially on clay, so it was by no means a foregone conclusion.

Bertens has a chance to go 2 in the rankings...

But she must be dead tired

But it all means nothing if she can't win a slam in such a weak era IMO

This new higher ranking should give her easier draws in the first week of slams.

YESSS kiki! Obviously you were running out of gas, but you kept yourself together really well in that third set. What a day. Mental victory for you. Now take a long rest for tomorrow.

So happy she came through this and made the QF! Passing Kerber, virtually #3 and a big chance to be top4 seed for RG. The only way she won't be top4 seed is if Pliskova beats Kvitova in the SF. Any other result would mean she's top4 seed for RG.

Rome R3: [6] Kiki Bertens def. Carla Suárez Navarro 6-4 1-6 6-3

Tough match with Carla peaking in the second set but Kiki worked it out once again.

Virtual number 3 in the world now, although still some competition for that spot in the tournament.
