Just like those poor men fighting in -40 C temperatures against Finland were some Uzbek and Tajik guys that saw the snow for the first time.

What's interesting is that if you e.g. look at the breakdown of men who fought against the Soviet Union at the Battle of Stalingrad you'll find out that a majority of them were not Germans:

220,000 Italians, 200,000 Hungarians, 140,000 Romanians, 20-50,000 volunteers from various nations plus 5,000 Croatians compared to 400,000 Germans.

And actually the Soviets would often target those presumably weaker non-German sections.

Hitler thought that Soviet army is not so great, because the Finns managed to hold them off for such a long time. He was baffled when he realized how much tanks Stalin had built during the interwar period.

Too bad Putin is shamelessly abusing this, but the Soviet war effort was monumental and regardless of everything, should NEVER be forgotten.

In that spirit:

Happy Victory Day!

A military parade to commemorate the 74th anniversary of the Soviet victory over Nazi Germany in the 1941-1945 Great Patriotic War was held on Moscow’s Red Square on 9 May. The parade showcased sophisticated Russian military hardware, including tanks and missile systems.
