Re: Green Strawberries: the British Juniors thread

Hephzibah and Mingge are in yet another on Tennis Europe Circuit, this time in Halton. A win tomorrow would give Hephzibah her fourth title of the year, while a win for Mingge would put her at two titles this year.

Re: Green Strawberries: the British Juniors thread

Matilda broke the top 100 with those points, landing at 97.

Marni not in RG Qualies (she withdrew from Astrid Bowl so no chance of a SE, and she's way down the alternates' list for RG), so I guess Matilda is favourite to be our next number one. I think Emma will hold on post RG all else being equal, mind you, so who knows.

Re: Green Strawberries: the British Juniors thread

Hephzibah won the final 64 62. Their results remind me of Holly Fischer and Kylie Bilchev at that age. Both of them are stand out talents, but, just like Holly had over Kylie, Hephzibah has the clear advantage currently over Mingge. Hopefully Hephzibah and Mingge don't suffer the same injury woes as Holly and Kylie.

Re: Green Strawberries: the British Juniors thread

Marni Banks has had an excellent 2019 so far, and is into the SF of the current Italian J1: https://www.itftennis.com/juniors/to...tid=1100043857

A loss will leave her just outside the top 100. Seems likely in any case that she'll be GB no. 1 after the FO(*).

(*) Actually, I just made the last bit up without doing any sort of calculation. I doubt it's true (without Marni winning more points before then).

Re: Green Strawberries: the British Juniors thread

Our top two 2007 girls, Mingge Xu and Hephzibah Oluwadare, continue to impress on the Tennis Europe junior circuit. This week they are in Cyprus for an U12 tournament where they will face one another in the final.

Re: Green Strawberries: the British Juniors thread

I think if she remains injury free she'll most likely be playing on the pro circuit this year.

Re: Green Strawberries: the British Juniors thread

Esther Adeshina won the first of the pair of ITF events in Nottingham: https://www.itftennis.com/juniors/to...tid=1100044602. Esther should be playing pro circuit by now, you'd have thought, but I guess lost a lot of time after being out with injury.

Re: Green Strawberries: the British Juniors thread

Matilda won a J3 in South Africa, which is her best win to date and takes her to maybe 130ish(?) in the rankings.

Re: Green Strawberries: the British Juniors thread

Hephzibah lost in 3 sets in the SF to Nakazato. It did feel as though her opponent always had the match under control, though.

The Japanese girl didn't fit the reserved and polite national stereotype very well, with her "come ons" after every won point.

EDIT: Hephzibah and Mimi won the doubles title. Mimi won the consolation draw.
